Entering production in Iceland in early October, with extensive filming at Höfði House, the actual site of the 1986 Reykjavik summit, Reykjavik explains why the event marked one of the most significant diplomatic achievements of modern times. The film takes place at the most dangerous point of the Cold War, watching as political enemies Ronald Reagan (Daniels) and Mikhail Gorbachev (Harris) meet in Iceland over one long, tense weekend to decide if there will be peace or war in the world. They sit across the table from each other, choosing to unclench their fists and instead extend their hands — a triumph of overcoming fear, differences, egos, and consequences.

Burnet plays a young journalist, Alexander, covering the Reykjavik Summit opposite Cash. Bowie plays diplomat Ken Adelman, with Rawlins as Max Kampleman, Counselor of the US State Department, and Jóhannesson as Richard Perle, Assistant Secretary of Defense.

In addition to making his feature directorial debut, Gunn produces alongside John Logan Pierson (It Ends with Us, Thai Cave Rescue).

Previously, Burnet has appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, as well as films like Dead for a Dollar and Pitch Perfect 3. Select TV credits include Minx, Counterpart, Hand of God, and Chicago Fire. He’s also starring in the upcoming film The Beast, which Pierson is producing.

Bowie’s resume includes appearances in the films Jumanji: The Next Level, He’s Just Not That Into You, Sex Drive, and Road Trip. Most recently, he’s been seen on shows like The Neighborhood, CSI: Vegas, Station 19, and United States of Al.

Rawlins has appeared in the Anthony Hopkins drama One Life, Living opposite Bill Nighy, Oscar winner Darkest Hour, the Harry Potter franchise, and Lars von Trier’s Breaking the Waves. In television, his recent work includes Mary & George, Slow Horses, and Andor.

Perhaps best known for roles on shows like Vikings: Valhalla, Succession, and Those About to Die, Jóhannesson has also been seen in films like The Good Liar, Where’d You Go, Bernadette, The Sisters Brothers, and Atomic Blonde, among others.

Burnet is repped by The Way, Lasher Group, and Paul Hastings; Bowie by Curtis Brown Group and Innovative Artists; Rawlins by The Artists Partnership; and Jóhannesson by Independent Talent Group, Crimson Media, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
