The Irish singer was found unresponsive in her home in July.
Sinead O’Connor’s cause of death has been revealed following her shock passing at the age of 56 in July last year. The Irish music legend was found unresponsive after police were called to her home in south-east London.
Her death was not treated as suspicious and a coroner has now said that she died of natural causes.
Sinead’s family announced her passing in a statement shared with Ireland’s national broadcaster RTE and the BBC on July 26.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad,” they said. “Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

The event is set to take place at Carnegie Hall in New York on March 20 with performances from Cat Power, Glen Hansard, Amanda Palmer, David Gray, Dropkick Murphys and The Mountain Goats.
Sinead O'Connor's heartbreaking final post
Sinead O’Connor opened up about the pain she felt over losing her teenage son Shane to suicide in one of her final social media posts before her death.
The ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ hitmaker had responded to a tweet from an ‘inspirational quotes’ account that asked: “Tell me how your life is going with emojis”.
Sinead replied with 10 crying emojis on July 17, as well as the hashtag ‘lostmy17yrOldSonToSuicidein2022’.
“Been living as undead night creature since,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself and her son sharing a hug. “He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.”
Her son Shane, whom she shared with fellow musician Donal Lunny, took his own life in January 2022 after escaping from an Irish hospital’s suicide watch ward.
Sinead is survived by her three children, Jake Reynolds, Roisin Waters and Yeshua Bonadio.
