Showtime’s ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Casts David Zayas, Jack Alcott & James Remar As Series Regulars

EXCLUSIVE: David Zayas (Dexter, The Bear), Jack Alcott (Dexter: New Blood, The Good Lord Bird) and James Remar (Oppenheimer, Welcome to Derry) will join Michael C. Hall in the Paramount+ with Showtime Original series Dexter: Resurrection in series regular roles. Production begins on the new series this month and will premiere in the summer.

Zayas and Remar will return to the roles they made famous in the mothership series, Detective Angel Batista and Harry Morgan, Dexter’s father, respectively. They reprised the roles in Dexter: New Blood, the original series’ sequel that launched in 2021. Alcott will play Dexter’s son, Harrison Morgan, who he originally portrayed in Dexter: New Blood.

How Remar will return on a series regular basis will be interesting to see considering his character has been dead for quite some time. However, with Dexter: New Blood bleeding (pun not intended) into Dexter: Original Sin via the latter’s premiere, there might be a way in. Although, it’s certainly possible he will continue to guide Dexter as he did in the original series. And with Zayas joining also as a regular, could this mean there will be more of a focus on Dexter’s new adventures moving forward and not Harrison?

No official synopsis for Dexter: Resurrection has been revealed, but it will be a follow-up to Dexter: New Blood and set in present day.

The series is executive produced by Emmy nominee Clyde Phillips (Dexter, Dexter: Original Sin, Nurse Jackie), who also returns to serve as showrunner, and produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) also serves as executive producer along with Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones), Tony Hernandez (Emily in Paris) and Lilly Burns (Russian Doll), with Marcos Siega (Dexter: New Blood) serving as producing director. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Zayas is best known for his role as Angel Batista on the award-winning series Dexter and was recently cast in the upcoming film The Running Man. Additional TV and film credits include notable roles in Shut Eye, Pose, The Bear, Michael Clayton, The Interpreter and The Expendables. On stage, Zayas recently starred in the Manhattan Theater Club’s Brooklyn Laundry. He is repped by ATA Management, Buchwald, Schreck Rose Adams.

Alcott is known for his starring roles in the Showtime Original series Dexter: New Blood and The Good Lord Bird, with additional previous credits in The Black List and Poker Face. He’ll be seen next in the western thrilled Killing Faith. He is repped by Gersh Agency, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, Viewpoint, Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.

He’ll be seen next in Welcome to Derry, a prequel series to Stephen King’s IT. He is repped by Gersh Agency and Lighthouse Entertainment.
