See SZA's Hilarious Reaction When Asked by Keke Palmer If Ex Drake Is a Good Kisser: 'We Were Children!'
The "Kill Bill" singer dated the rapper in 2009, and they collaborated on a song in 2023
SZA is not one to kiss and tell — especially when her paramour is Drake!
Though the “Kill Bill” singer famously dated the rapper more than a decade ago, she’s still not ready to dish on his kissing skills, despite co-star Keke Palmer’s best efforts.
SZA, Palmer and Issa Rae — who all worked together on the new buddy comedy One of Them Days — recently appeared on an episode of Hot Ones Versus, and a game of Truth of Death Wing quickly got spicy.
Palmer, 31, grilled SZA, 35, on her romance with the “God’s Plan” rapper, asking if he was a good kisser. It was clear almost immediately that the Grammy winner was not interested in answering, as she quipped to Palmer, “That’s why I said f--- you in advance.”
Palmer then laughed maniacally as she and Rae joked back and forth, and SZA sat in her misery, knowing she would soon be forced to eat the spicy wing.
“I don’t want to, it hurts!” she said. “We were children! We were children. 2009? We were children.”
At that point, Palmer told her it was a “simple good or not good,” to which Rae responded that the question was “really easy. And the fact that you don’t want to say one is very telling.”
“Y’all trying to double-team me into guilt ‘cause you know I’m affected by it? F--- y’all,” SZA responded before finally taking a tiny bite of the wing and officially opting not to answer the question.
SZA’s history with Drake, 38, stretches back to 2009, when the pair dated. Drake first name-dropped the star in his 2020 song “Mr. Right Now,” in which he rapped about how a girl he was dating wanted to play SZA during an intimate moment (“Wait ‘cause I used to date SZA back in ‘08/If you cool with it, she can still play,” he raps).
Days later, SZA responded by confirming on X that they had, in fact, dated — only it was one year after Drake said in the song.
“So It was actually 2009 lol 🙃.. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered 🥴lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait,” she wrote. “Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace 🤝💎💫 . I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening . Completely innocent . Lifetimes ago .”
In December 2022, SZA elaborated on her feelings toward Drake in an interview with Audacy, saying the two were “cool” and have “always been cool.”
“It’s never been weird. It didn’t come completely out of the blue when he let me know,” she said of her inclusion on “Mr. Right Now.” “I didn’t know it was a song with 21 [Savage] or anything like that. But anytime he’s ever mentioned me, it’s always been positive. He’s never said anything negative about me. I’m grateful for that. I think highly of him… He’s King Drake.”
The two eventually collaborated on a song of their own called “Slime You Out” in September 2023, and she later got another shoutout on his diss track “Push Ups” in April, in which Drake rapped that SZA, Travis Scott and 21 Savage had all surpassed Kendrick Lamar as artists.
