See John Amos in his final role, playing himself on the pilot of “Suits: L.A.”

John Amos loved acting and he did what he loved till the end.

For his final onscreen role, Amos, who died Aug. 21 at age 84 of natural causes, guest starred on the pilot of NBC's Suits: L.A.

Amos portrayed himself, a client and old friend of lawyer protagonist Ted Black (Stephen Amell). According to Deadline, Amos' role was intended as a one-off but there was potential for him to recur and NBC has not yet decided whether to dedicate the episode to the beloved actor.

In a statement on his father's death, Amos' son Kelly Christopher Amos briefly mentioned his cameo on the Suits spinoff.

"His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor," he said. "My father loved working as an actor throughout his entire life.... most recently in Suits: L.A. playing himself and our documentary about his life journey as an actor, America's Dad."

Known for roles in Good Times, Roots, Coming to America, and more than 100 other credits, Amos worked steadily until his death, as he was seen most recently opposite Pierce Brosnan in 2023'sThe Last Rifleman, a British World War II drama. According to IMDb, Amos had two projects in pre-production whose fates are unknown, the comedy Capture the Flag and the action drama Devotion.

Suits: L.A., piggybacking off the surprise Suits resurgence fueled by Netflix, will premiere on NBC, though a date has not yet been determined. The original USA series about a corporate law firm in New York City aired over nine seasons, from 2011 to 2019.

The spinoff will follows Amell's Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, who, like many a New Yorker, goes to Los Angeles to reinvent himself, and ends up representing that town's most powerful clients.
