Schwartz & Sandy's From "Vanderpump Rules" Is Closing, And The Internet's Reaction Has Me In Tears
Fellow Bravo fans, it's official: Schwartz & Sandy's, Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz's infamous restaurant, will soon be no more.
Both Sandoval and Schwartz shared statements on their respective IG's explaining that Schwartz & Sandy's will permanently close its doors at the end of December after only being open for about two years. The restaurant's official Instagram account issued a statement as well. Sandoval said that the decision was made with a "heavy heart" and that he "looks forward to exciting new endeavors."
Meanwhile, Schwartz said, "This was not an easy conclusion. So this is our farewell tour. Let Tom & I host your holiday parties, birthdays, even a funeral for your lizard (rip Daug)."
If you've lived and breathed Vanderpump Rules since the beginning (like me), then you know why this is a big deal. But if you don't, let me explain. The Toms opening Schwartz & Sandy's was a major plot point in later seasons of the show, specifically Season 10. In their struggles to get the place open, Schwartz's marriage to Katie Maloney fell apart (she essentially blamed the bar), they (along with their investors) allegedly sank $1 million into the place before even opening its doors, and Sandoval even borrowed $250,000 from his own mom to keep things going. It finally opened in November 2022.
And, even if you've never watched a single episode of VPR in your life, chances are you remember another major plot point in Season 10: Scandoval. That's right, in March 2023, Tom Sandoval was outed for cheating on his long-time partner and fellow castmate Ariana Madix with their good friend and also-fellow castmate Rachel (Raquel) Leviss.
Bravo
This news set the internet ablaze (CNN even picked it up and wrote about it!). As a result, Sandoval became "the most hated man in America" (according to him). And while he definitely was hated, as evidenced by the Yelp reviews of Schwartz & Sandy's in 2023, Sandoval only made matters worse when he chose to compare himself and the media attention around Scandoval to the media reaction around the murder of George Floyd in 2020.
And lastly, thanks to the fallout of Scandoval and the rifts it caused amongst the cast in Season 11, the fate of Vanderpump Rules currently hangs in the balance. And if we DO get a Season 12, it will probably be the last. So, Schwartz & Sandy's was/is one of the only sources of income for the Toms at this point.
With all this in mind, people have FEELINGS about Schwartz & Sandy's closing. Here's what they're saying on Instagram:
"So your mother lost all her retirement money?" one person wrote:
Others were wondering how this news is affecting fellow castmate and longtime Toms-apologist Scheana Shay:
FWIW, here's what Scheana had to say:
Others couldn't help but bring up the divorce of it all and wonder how Katie's feeling:
And FWIW, here's what Katie actually said:
And on Twitter, the jokes keep on coming:

Schwartz & Sandy’s had the worst drinks, French fries, and vibes of any bar I’ve ever been to! It will be missed ❤️ https://t.co/V8TR0HBzmX

Sigh...guess I'll never get to have a lukewarm lobster corn dog from S+S ever again. What do you think of all this? Share your thoughts in the comments.
