The holidays are typically a joyful time, but an abundance of plans and family gatherings can also make the yuletide stressful and chaotic. Well, the royals are just like any family around the holidays and our preparing for a busy month ahead.

According to the Express, this season may be a bit hectic for King Charles, as "the head of a blended family" that he shares with wife Queen Camilla. The family is reportedly expecting to be "extremely busy with extra family guests" this year.

However, after a difficult year—both King Charles and Kate Middleton battled cancer in 2024—Christmas festivities will be the perfect distraction, royal author Robert Jobson told OK!, per Marie Claire.

"It's a lovely chance to see his grandchildren," Jobson said. "He'll be surrounded by those he cherishes most, enjoying the chance to eat, drink and be merry with them."

With lots of royal grandchildren in the mix, Charles can expect things to get a bit rowdy—especially if extended family members like Zara Tindall, Princess Eugenie, and Princess Eugenie attend alongside their own families. "Throw in the Tindalls' three plus Beatrice and Eugenie's kids, and it will be chaos—a Christmas dominated by children," royal expert Duncan Larcombe told the outlet.

Despite any raised cortisol levels that can come from hosting family during the holidays, Larcombe thinks a busy holiday season is just what the doctor ordered for Charles and Princess Kate. "Kids are a great healer and a great distraction," Larcombe added. "After the strain caused by the King and Kate's health battles, the royals will focus on making it a really fun and enchanting Christmas for them. They'll welcome some light relief, and the children will provide that."

In addition to quality family time, Middleton will be hosting her annual Together at Christmas concert, and author Katie Nicholl told The Sun's royal editor Matt Wilkinson during the outlet's Royal Exclusive show that Middleton will most likely go all out for this year's program.

"I'm predicting a big family turnout," Nicholl said, hinting that Middleton's kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, could all be in attendance. While she's not sure if Middleton will perform during the concert as she has in the past, Nicholl thinks the princess could have something special up her sleeve. "I'm not sure whether she's going to be involved in the performance at all," she said. "I mean, we've yet to see. The capacity for surprise, never underestimate it."

The family also plans to uphold the longtime tradition of gathering in Sandringham for Christmas, though King Charles may do away with some of his mother Queen Elizabeth's rituals, Larcombe told the Mirror.

"I don't think Charles will exactly rip up the rule book, but there's a strong chance he'll loosen some of the rules," Larcombe said "I think a lot of the more stoic aspects of Christmas were down to the Duke of Edinburgh, who was a stickler for timings. But I think the king is more relaxed about these things."
