Scammers Are Getting More Sophisticated And Sneaky — Tell Us About A Time You Got Scammed
A French woman recently went viral after being scammed out of more than $855K when a fraudster convinced her she was dating Brad Pitt. Hearing scam stories can help people become more aware of the lengths some may go to trick you, so we're asking people in the BuzzFeed Community to tell us about a time when they, or someone close to them, got scammed.
Maybe you were also contacted by someone posing as a celebrity on social media who asked you for money. You thought their intentions were pure, and now you're over $10,000 in debt.
Maybe you received a phone call from someone who sounded like a family member claiming to need money. You quickly transferred the needed amount, but then you were shocked when you called your loved one for an update, and they had no idea what you were talking about.
Or maybe you received a text that looked like it came from a popular money-transferring app, saying you owed them money. Obviously, you don't want to be in major debt, so you did what you thought you had to.
If you or someone you know have found yourself in a scam, we want to hear about it. Share your story below, or fill out this Google form to remain anonymous. Your response could be featured in an upcoming post.
