Want to be the first one in the know of the latest spring summer fashion trends? Sure, you can turn to the designer fashion week runways or take a scroll down the Cosmo fashion page – it is our jobs to keep you up to date, after all. But lately, we've found ourselves looking to Sarah Jessica Parker for of-the-moment outfit inspo.

For the past few weeks, the actress has been in character as Carrie Bradshaw to film the upcoming third season of And Just Like That.... And, as always, our favourite fictional TV style icon has been repping both weird and wonderful trend-led looks in equal measure. We're talking see-through corset dresses with a 3D floral twist, gigantic gingham bonnets, and her latest attire, a denim midi skirt with a peplum style waist that's giving us major noughties nostalgia.

Check it out for yourself:

SJP's denim design was a Maison Margiela creation featuring a faded wash, frayed hem and centre back slit. Pleated darts at the waistline created the voluminous bubble-like silhouette. She paired the skirt with white Mary Jane heels, also from the French luxury fashion house, and a nude V-neck long-sleeve top.

Her only accessory was a lanyard keychain knotted around one of the skirt's belt loops. Our initial assumption being this was a practical, rather than style-led choice. After all, no one wants to end up locked out of the house. But, maybe it is purely aesthetic, following the keychain belted leather dress Katy Perry wore recently.

But back to the peplum, because that's easily the more controversial detail of the 'fit in question. It's the throwback Y2K microtrend that's slowly been gaining traction with celeb backing from Florence Pugh, Sydney Sweeney and Maya Jama. It's not too dissimilar from the bubble skirt look we're seeing every RN either, though with the widest part of the garment a few inches shorter at the hem.

Yep, we can always trust SJP to have her finger on the fashion pulse.
