Royal author claims Diana is 'third wheel' in Harry and Meghan's marriage
Royal biographer Andrew Morton has spoken about how he thinks Princess Diana is a 'third wheel' in Prince Harry and Meghan's marriage.
In a column for the Daily Mail, the author of Princess, Diana: Her True Story, said he believed from early on that the "ghost of Diana would loom over the lives" of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
"Today for Harry, and increasingly for his wife, all roads lead back to Diana," Andrew wrote.
"His mother’s cause-driven life and the tragic manner of her death has not only coloured Harry’s relationship with his family, and the wider public, it has shaped the couple’s world view.
"As the Sussexes embarked on their own journey together through royal life, not a day went by without a reference, a memory or a decision that related in some way to Harry’s late mother. Diana was the third wheel in their marriage."

Indeed, Meghan is regularly seen seemingly paying tribute to the mother-in-law she was never able to meet, with Harry having said he thought Meghan and his mother would have been "thick as thieves".
Most recently during the Sussexes royal tour of New York City, Meghan gave a subtle nod to Princess Diana by carrying a Dior bag named after her.
When they announced their engagement in 2017, Harry explained small diamonds from his mother's jewellery collection were included in Meghan's ring so that Diana could "join us on this crazy journey".
And Meghan said of the gesture: "Everything about Harry's thoughtfulness and the inclusion of [Diana's stones] and obviously not being able to meet his mum, it's so important to me to know that she's a part of this with us."
According to Hello!, the duchess has also inherited a ring that once belonging to the Princess of Wales – which she wore on her 2018 wedding day – as well as a pair of earrings and bracelet, worn on the royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji the same year.
Meghan Markle may have been new to the world of the royal family when she first met Harry, but she was already a successful actress and outspoken activist.
So it was no surprise when people started drawing comparisons between her and the People's Princess.
And yet on the downside, Meghan also struggled with the same demons as Diana, opening up about her battle with depression and suicidal thoughts during the Sussexes sit-down interview with Oprah.
"The comparisons with Diana were inevitable, of course. Both were and are controversial women who were agents of change in their own contrasting ways," Andrew wrote.
"And it is clear the comparisons will continue to be made for some time to come."
