Royal expert calls out Meghan and Harry's 'deafening silence' after Camilla news

A royal expert has called out the "deafening silence" from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the Queen asked the public to support her wishes for Camilla to become Queen Consort, calling the move "surely deliberate".

British journalist Tom Bower pointed out how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "sent none of the customary congratulations or messages of loyalty to their family in London", which he also labelled an "insult".

"It has been said by a number of people that Harry has always disliked Camilla and blamed her for wrecking his parents' marriage," Tom wrote in a piece for The Sun.

"Perhaps the Sussexes' deafening silence is Meghan's way of declaring war.

"It is believed that she has never liked Camilla, and I am sure the feelings are reciprocated."

The writer added he believes Prince Harry's "silence" since the Queen's bombshell announcement also "bodes ill".

Though it is worth noting that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also not issued any formal statement in response.

Prince Charles spoke out in support of his ‘darling’ wife Camilla, just hours after it was announced by Her Majesty that the 74-year-old will become Queen.

“On this historic day, my wife and I join you all in congratulating Her Majesty The Queen on the remarkable achievement of serving this nation, the realms and Commonwealth for seventy years,” he said.

“The Queen’s devotion to the welfare of all her people inspires still greater admiration with each passing year.

“We are deeply conscious of the honour represented by my mother’s wish.

"As we have sought together to serve and support Her Majesty and the people of our communities, my darling wife has been my own steadfast support throughout."

It comes after further reports revealed the Duchess of Cornwall may receive a new prestigious royal patronage from the Queen after first missing out on the role to Meghan.

When they decided to leave royal life behind, Prince Harry and Meghan left behind numerous patronages and Camilla may finally receive one patronage that she was reportedly 'pretty miffed' to lose in the first place as it's close to the Duchess' heart.

Camilla is believed to be quite the enthusiast of the dramatic arts, and could soon be the next royal patron of the National Theatre after the Queen gave the patronage to Meghan in 2019.
