Robert and Bindi Irwin have shared emotional tributes to the late Steve Irwin for Father’s Day.
The siblings both posted photos of themselves with Steve as young children on Instagram, along with some beautiful words.
“It’s Father’s Day today in Australia, and I am sending my love to those who are missing their dad today. I cherish all the good times with my dad and feel grateful to keep his memory and legacy alive,” Robert wrote.
In the photo Robert shared, a young Steve is pictured holding a bunch of flowers in one hand, and baby Robert in the other.
Fans shared in Robert’s grief, with one writing: “Oh Robert, my entire family cried when your dad died. He was a rare gem of a man. I can never look at wildlife or nature without thinking of him. He blessed this earth and he left us blessings in you and Bindi.”
“You and Bindi have done an amazing job keeping his legacy alive!” another chimed in.
“You are a spitting image of your dad! He would be SO proud of you! Wonderful family!” a third added.
His sister Bindi shared a photo of herself as a child, holding a small reptile in a wooden boat with her dad.
“Grandpa Crocodile, I know you would’ve been the most incredible grandfather because you were such an extraordinary dad. Thank you for being an amazing guardian and angel for Grace,” she wrote alongside the photo.
Bindi recently revealed that Grace calls Steve ‘grandpa crocodile’, and she loves to find photos of him at Australia Zoo.
Fans reassured the Wildlife Warrior that Steve was indeed watching over Grace as she grows up.
“He gave this world such a gift by sharing his life with us. I’m sure Grace will think of him as a superhero as she grows and she’ll be right. He was extraordinary and so are you,” one fan wrote.
“Oh Bindi, your beautiful words about your dad are making me cry again!” another added.
“He is so very proud of you and the life that you have created, but especially because of the kind of parent you are. You had the best for an example!” a third commented.
