Yahoo Lifestyle Reese Witherspoon Broke Her Silence On The Rumor That She Fell Out With Kate Winslet
Reese Witherspoon is clearing the air.
Quick recap: In an interview with People earlier this week, the actor revealed that she once gave a speech while presenting an award to another female actor that basically ended their friendship.
"She doesn't talk to me anymore!" Reese exclaimed regarding the fallout from the speech, which she said "literally haunts me."
"This friend of mine, who I didn't really know that well but she was a very serious, proper actress, she asked me to give her an award," Reese also explained. "But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her...I think she doesn't like me anymore. I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad. Yeah. Not even kidding, she doesn't talk to me anymore. Oh well."
Reese also mentioned that the ex-friend in question was British — which led many internet sleuths to deduce that she was talking about none other than celebrated actor Kate Winslet, who Reese presented an award to in 2007 at the BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards.
Now, sometimes this sort of theorizing goes down and the celeb (or celebs) in question never address it again, for whatever reason. This is not one of those times.
According to People, Reese took to her IG story last night to refute the rumors that her and Kate were donezo. "Hey guys .. just spoke to my very dear friend for years, Kate W," she wrote. "We laughed about this stupidity. Please do not believe the internet."
"We are good friends and have never had any falling out."
Just to drive home her point, Reese added a second slide in which she said the rumors were "completely UNTRUE ...so silly!"
