A Racket in The Neighborhood: Watch Exclusive Sneak Peek From Pickleball-Themed, Two-Part Winter Premiere
Just because The Neighborhood has enjoyed a six-week slumber doesn’t mean Calvin and Tina, and Dave and Gemma, are well-rested.
TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek from the CBS sitcom’s two-part winter premiere — which kicks off Monday at 8/7c, and streams next day on Paramount+ — reveals that a new family has moved in across the street, and they’re making quite a… racket.

It’s 6:30 am when Calvin marches out of his house in a huff. The Johnsons, meanwhile, are already up and dressed. “Instead of being gently stirred to greet the day by my aromatherapy, white noise, LED sunrise alarm, I was jolted awake by that whack,” Dave exclaims.
Soon after, Tina comes out and insists that her husband channel his inner Karen and confront their inconsiderate neighbors — but before Calvin has a chance to head back inside and change into something more presentable, Dave goes and makes things weird with an observation about his best friend’s sleepwear.
Though Calvin assumes that the neighbors are either building something or killing something, the title of the episode — “Welcome to Pickleball” — reveals that they’re just paddle sport enthusiasts. And from the looks of the photo above, Dave will be joining them for a match or two. (The games will then continue in Part 2, titled “Welcome to the Pickle,” airing Monday, Feb. 3.)
As TVLine previously reported, The Neighborhood Season 7 — which will consist of 20 episodes — will conclude with a backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff headlined by Sheaun McKinney and Marcel Spears. The as-yet-untitled offshoot, which is being eyed for the 2025-26 TV season, would see Malcolm and Marty “embark on new adventures, finally leaving their parents’ nest to start the next chapter of their lives, finding themselves the newcomers in a neighborhood that’s both close but yet world apart: Venice Beach,” according to the official logline.
The Malcolm-and-Marty series is separate from the Tracy Morgan-led Crutch. That Neighborhood spinoff, which received a series order in May, will bypass CBS and bow on Paramount+. As previously reported, Morgan will not reprise his Season 4 role as Calvin Butler’s wealthy brother Curtis, but instead play a new character: Calvin’s cousin, Francois “Frank” Crutchfield – or, as his friends call him, Crutch — “a Harlem widower whose empty nest plans are put on hold after his millennial son (Jermaine Fowler) and free-spirited daughter (Adrianna Mitchell) move back home.”
