‘Saturday Night Live’ Skewers Trump-Zelensky Oval Office Showdown With A Cameo From Mike Myers As Elon Musk

Saturday Night Live went for the obvious in its cold open: Donald Trump’s Oval Office meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, in which the president and Vice President JD Vance berated the Ukrainian leader as he tried to argue that Russian President Vladimir Putin could not be trusted.

Making a cameo appearance was Mike Myers, appearing as a chainsaw-waving Elon Musk.

“Donald, what are you doing in my office? You know I am the president now, right?” Myers are Musk asked. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Maybe not? Maybe not?”

The sketch opened with Zelensky sitting in the Oval Office with Trump (James Austin Johnson) and Vance (Bowen Yang), as well as a catatonic Secretary of State Marco Rubio (Marcello Hernandez).

“President Zelensky, you want to say a few words. Maybe tell Mr. Putin how much you love him and that you’re sorry you invaded Russia. Maybe offer him one night with your wife,” Trump said to him.

“Mr. President, with all due respect,” Zelensky said, before he’s interrupted by Vance.

Vance laid into him, “Excuse me. I’m sorry, what? I’m trying to jump in here because that is not how we planned this. What happened to thank you, OK? Remember thank you? You haven’t said thank you to us once in the past 15 seconds I have been yelling at you.”

On it went, as the sketch played it only slight more absurd than the real Oval Office shoutfest.

As Zelensky tried to get a word in, Trump and Vance attack him for not being sufficiently deferential. Some of the lines in the sketch were similar to the ones that Trump actually used on Friday.

“You say you want to end this war, but frankly, you don’t have the cards. Okay? I have the cards, all right? I have Skip. I have Draw Four. I have Reverse. I have Get Out of Jail Free. The Supreme Court gave me that one.”

“You got no cards. You’re playing Poker, and Putin’s playing Magic: The Gathering. And the Russians have been treated very badly with respect to the war, and also, frankly, Anora, right? Anora was misled and she fell in love, and now she may even lose to Brutalist. It’s disgusting.”

Trump then chides Zelensky for not wearing a suit. “It’s disrespectful. Who shows up at the White House with a T-shirt and jeans like a garbage person?”

That was the cue for Myers as Musk, wearing a T-shirt and jeans in the Oval Office. Much of the real-life criticism of Zelensky’s attire ignored that Musk wore a casual outfit in the same room a week earlier, along with a ball cap.

As he waved his chainsaw, Myers’ Musk reveled in his DOGE mass firings.

“They’re saying I’m firing people without cause. I do have cause. It’s cause I feel like it,” he said.

Soon he’s joined by his minion, Big Balls, and they talk of another initiative they are starting, the Department of Undoing Child Health Care And Education, “or DOUCHE.”
