Spider-Man is swinging back into action.

We have at least another year before we see Tom Holland don his red and blue fit for the big screen, and the wait for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse keeps getting longer. But have no fear: To alleviate your Spidey withdrawal, the Marvel multiverse is expanding one more time.

Next month will mark the premiere of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, an animated Disney+ series that takes the web-slinger back to his comic book roots.

Previously titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year, the upcoming show follows a parallel timeline in which Peter Parker (a.k.a. Spider-Man) is just beginning his heroic journey, but now he's also being mentored by tech genius Norman Osborn. Their relationship is not unlike that of Peter and Tony Stark in the MCU — except instead of living a double life as an avenging hero, Osborn is the alter ego of Spider-Man's archnemesis, the Green Goblin.

The just-released first trailer shows off the series' playful comic book animation style and a very familiar setup: Once again, Peter Parker is a nerdy, clumsy kid with a big secret and a strong sense of justice.

"I truly believe that I have these powers to help people, to protect them," he declares. Elsewhere in the trailer, he's seen swinging into action, taking down street-level criminals, trying on a new suit, and stealing the spotlight of a livestream.

Hudson Thames takes on the titular role, and he's joined by Colman Domingo's Norman Osborn, Kari Wahlgren's Aunt May, and Hugh Dancy's Doctor Octopus. The series will also feature the voices of Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, reprising their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Paul F. Tompkins, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, and Zeno Robinson also star in the show.

Jeff Trammell (Craig of the Creek, Amphibia) is the project's head writer, with Mel Zwyer (Young Justice) serving as supervising director. Back in 2022, Trammell revealed that the series will feature plenty of characters familiar to comic book readers — some of which have yet to be featured in the wider MCU. Among them are Nico Minoru, Amadeus Cho, Lonnie Lincoln, Wakandan genius Asha, Dr. Chameleon, Speed Demon, Scorpion, Butane the Pyromaniac, Tarantula, the Rhino, and Dr. Bentley Wittman.
