People Are Divided Over Drake’s Wildly Dramatic Statement After Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Grammy Wins, And I’m Dying To Know What You Think

For the most part, the 2025 Grammys were an excellent time for everyone involved. It was a joy for viewers; the winners got their flowers, and even the losers couldn’t help but have a ball. But, one person who probably wasn’t having so much fun was Aubrey Graham — the man otherwise known as Drake.

Despite not being in attendance, Drake was one of the most talked about people on the internet once the show wrapped up on Sunday night — all thanks to Kendrick Lamar and his messy little self.

For context, Drake and Kendrick have been feuding on and off for over a decade. But their beef reached whole new levels of vitriolic madness in mid-2024 when the two rappers became embroiled in a heated back-and-forth on a string of scathing diss tracks.

I’m not going to do a full recap of the Kendrick/Drake conflict because, honestly, it’s suuuuper extensive, and you’ve hopefully got the gist by now. BUT if you’d like to refresh your memory, you can find a comprehensive breakdown of the drama here. And if you’re still confused after that, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a literal TV documentary about the beef in the works, so yeah.

Despite Drake’s best efforts, the public pretty much decided that he lost the battle soon after Kendrick dropped “Not Like Us” on May 4. As well as being incredibly catchy, the song includes a ton of accusations against the Toronto native about everything from his alleged sexual deviancy to his purported disrespect of Black culture.

After spending a record-breaking 21 weeks atop Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart, “Not Like Us” has only gotten bigger and bigger and bigger. And things only got worse for Drake at Sunday’s Grammys when the diss track won not one but TWO of the night’s most prestigious awards and five trophies in total.

To summarize, a diss track against Drake won the same amount of Grammys as Drake has in his entire career. And as you may have guessed, the reactions online were truly wild, with everyone dying to know when Drake would face the world again after such a brutal blow.

And luckily, we’ve not had to wait very long, as the rapper’s Anita Max Win Tour just kicked off in Australia — where, in true Drake fashion, he’s keeping things all kinds of corny and dramatic.

If you’ve not already seen the videos, Drake made an entrance at his first show in Perth last night wearing a black hoodie covered in bullet holes, which seems like a pretty clear nod to all the metaphorical shots he’s been taking in the public eye. To make things all the more dramatic, he also had smoke streaming from his back. (Lest we forget, this man was an actor before he made it as a rap star.)

As with most things Drake does, the move has gained a lot of attention and sparked a serious divide among fans. While some on X are hailing the theatrics as only further proof of Drizzy’s legendary status, others are finding the whole thing unbearably corny and embarrassing.

Tweet from Jamila: "Actually I respect how dramatic he is"
Tweet by user tay: "she is so dramatic lol"

Needless to say, I don’t think this beef will end anytime soon…and with Kendrick’s Super Bowl Halftime Show only a few days away, there’s hope for things to get a whole lot messier.

In the meantime, I am dying to know what you think of Drake’s latest move. I, for one, am conflicted. But I guess my hot take is that Drake’s always been corny — and it’s low-key why we love him so much. So, let’s allow him to revel in the drama for a while, and hopefully, he’ll return with an all-time classic album for Summer 2025. I’m counting on you, Aubrey.
