While her character on The Sex Lives of College Girls was navigating being a student at Essex College, actress Pauline Chalamet, who plays Kimberly, was holding onto a huge secret.

The exciting news may be out now; however, at the time season 3 of the popular Max show started filming, no one — except showrunner Justin Noble — knew that Chalamet was pregnant with her first baby.

"I found out the first day of filming, and at first, in a very respectable way, she didn't want anyone to know. And so little by little we would have conversations," Noble told Entertainment Weekly.

"I'd be like, 'We should maybe tell the costume people because they can help you.' 'We should maybe tell the camera team because they can frame you in certain ways.'"

Noble told the outlet that through it all, Chalamet was "so down and wonderful to work," during her pregnancy. He held her secret close to his chest, making sure she didn't have to share her news before she was ready.

The television director recalled a moment on set when the cast unexpectedly had to run up the stairs to meet Reneé Rapp's Leighton Murray before she left Essex.

"We hadn't scripted that they were going to sprint up the stairs. And then I was like, 'Oh my God, does she feel comfortable doing this?' I'm still one of the only people who knows," he shared with EW. "I, on a little pad, wrote down, 'Are you okay with this?' And then I literally, like a seventh grader, wrote: 'Yes, no, maybe.'"

"She was like, 'What are you talking about?' " he continued. "And then I had to flip a page and scribble just the word 'baby' and then cross it out frantically hoping no one would see it."

During a conversation on The Drew Barrymore Show in December, Chalamet opened up to host Drew Barrymore about becoming a mom for the first time. She shared that she was able to get advice from the show's co-creator Mindy Kaling, who's a mom to three kids: daughter Katherine "Kit" Swati, 7, son Spencer Avu, 4, and daughter Anne, 11 months.

"I did, I think Mindy was one of the first people to know I was pregnant," she shared with Barrymore. "I called her. I was like, 'Ok, we're about to start, and, surprise!' And she was like, I mean, you were just so supportive and had the best advice because also she's just...Mindy does it all."

"So she was like, 'Yeah, ok, no problem. And this is how we'll handle it,' " she added. "And everyone was so supportive."
