Patti Smith addresses fall onstage at Brazil concert: 'Trust me, I am fine'

Patti Smith wants fans to know she's "fine" after making headlines for an onstage collapse at a concert Wednesday.

Smith was at the Cultura Artística Theater in São Paulo, Brazil when she suddenly collapsed. She took to Instagram earlier this week to clarify the incident.

"This is letting everyone know that I am fine. A grossly exaggerated account is being spread by the press and social media," Smith wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption. "I had some post migraine dizziness. Had a small incident, left the stage, and returned 10 minutes later and talked to the people, told them I was fine and sang."

Smith directed fans to "trust" that she's OK after the incident made headlines: "I was checked out by an excellentDoctor and was absolutely fine. Please do not accept any other story," adding that "with all the strife in the world, this explainable incident does not merit so much attention."
