Patrick Dempsey roasted over 'Sexiest Man Alive' title
Sure, he's aged like a fine wine but should Patrick Dempsey have been given the title a decade ago?
Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey has been roasted online after being named People's 'Sexiest Man Alive'.
While it wasn't disputed the 57-year-old actor is pretty nice to look at, people were a little confused as to why he was being touted as the Sexiest Man Alive in 2023.
Patrick, often culturally remembered as Doctor Derek 'McDreamy' Shepherd from Grey's Anatomy, had a long-running stint on the show from 2005 to 2015, until the moment his character was killed off in a simply ludicrous car accident. For a hot doctor, he was pretty stupid to just, I don't know, STOP HIS CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF A U-TURN TO LOOK FOR HIS PHONE.
Moving on.
While Patrick has continued acting over the years and obviously aged like a fine wine, many people were questioning why he was awarded the honour now and not... well, 10 or 15 years ago.
Think of yourself in 2005. It was a loooong time ago. What were you doing? I was sitting in my room by myself, killing my Sims and listening to My Chemical Romance. That was the year Patrick Dempsey was the equivalent of the fire emoji. Except the fire emoji didn't even exist yet. That's how long ago it was.
There have been a lot of hotties glossing the pages of many magazines over those years, in their rising star eras. Sure, Patrick Dempsey probably ruled 2005. Chris Hemsworth stormed the pages of our fave mags in 2011. Idris Elba gets a pass in all stages of life.

In the holy year of 2023, one could assume the title might go to someone who's just had a bit more of a year. A Ryan Gosling, perhaps. Pedro Pascal. Jeremy Allen White. An Austin Butler.
Patrick Dempsey's announcement met with confusion: 'Not relevant'
The comments section of any social media place can be a minefield and the announcement of Patrick Dempsey as Sexiest Man Alive was met with some outrage.
"Are you guys for real? It was the year of Pedro Pascal," someone commented. "He was the biggest star of the year. Patrick is fine and all but not super relevant."
"I mean yes he is very attractive but it’s not 2005, why couldn’t y'all pick someone more relevant?" another asked.
"Did I time travel? Is this a flashback to 15 years ago?" another said.
Others stood up for the star.
"I understand that other people may have deserved it more but c'mon it's MCDREAMY," one fan said. "How are you guys complaining about this?"
"I have seen this man in person," another fan commented. "This award is well deserved."
Whether you agree or not, let's remember People don't always get it right. They put Blake Shelton on the cover in 2017. Nothing will be weirder than that.
