Osher reveals 'intense lie' to Abbie Chatfield on The Bachelor

The Bachelor host Osher Günsberg has made a frank admission to jilted season 7 finalist Abbie Chatfield about the moment before she was dumped.

Abbie made it to the season's final rose ceremony, with the hope of winning suitor Matt Agnew's heart.

However, she was crushed on screen when Matt dumped her and picked Chelsie McLeod during the final ceremony in South Africa in 2019.

Speaking with Abbie on her radio show Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield, Osher admitted he had told her a huge lie moments before Matt told her she wasn't the one.

"I have lied to you, and it is the most blatant and most intense lie I have ever told, I think probably in all my years on reality television," Osher said.

"When you stood in front of me in South Africa, I knew 100 per cent what was about to happen, and I lied to your face."

Reminiscing on the moment, Osher told Abbie she was telling him how much she loved Matt.

"It's the really hard, hard, hard part of my job, that's the one super, super, super hard part of my job is obfuscating the truth in an incredibly emotional moment," he told her.

Osher said he looked into Abbie's eyes as she walked down to meet Matt, and told her Matt was excited to see her.

"I'm incredibly sorry that I lied to you in that moment, I did it for the good of the show and for a lot of money," he admitted.

Abbie did not have any hard feelings towards Osher, saying if she won she wouldn't have her career, which includes her radio show, podcast, fashion line as well as hosting the Masked Singer.

Osher praised Abbie for how hard she had worked since her season of The Bachelor wrapped.

"I have seen how hard you work and it's not an accident you are where you are and are going where you're going," he said.

"I'm so proud of you beyond measure, and that was not a lie, that is deeply truthful."
