Nora Fatehi and Jason Derulo are blending Eastern and Western influences together.

On Thursday, Jan. 16, the pair released their single "Snake," which combines East Asian and Indian sounds with Western pop.

"'Snake' has been a dream project of mine, and I’m thrilled to finally share this exotic song with the world," said the Bollywood star, 32, in a statement. “Collaborating with Jason Derulo has been an incredible experience—his artistry as a performer brought the exact energy and magic I envisioned for the music video."

She added that for the track they "fused futuristic Moroccan influences with urban styles, creating a powerful showcase of dance and expression like never before.”

In a statement, the "Glad U Came" musician, 35, called Fatehi a "true creative willing to push the boundaries of the norm."

"We wanted to make something new and fresh that crosses genres for a never-before-heard sound,” Derulo said.

"Look into my eyes / Baby Tell me what you see / If I throw you vibes better throw it back to me / Tell the DJ he can put it on repeat /Moving like a snake every time I hear the beat," the Matka star sings over a funky groove.

Derulo then sings, "She looking right in them tights / She got nothing underneath / As soon as I catch a vibe ima put that a-- to sleep."

Alongside the single, the duo shared a music video, which was directed by Abderrafia Elabdioui and filmed amid the stunning landscapes of Morocco. The visual narrative creates an immersive journey that offers a modern and futuristic take on Eastern aesthetics and features belly dancing and Bollywood influences.

On Thursday, Jan. 16, Fatehi opened up to Variety about the making of the song.

“I was trying to figure out how to mix three different cultures into one project and to make it global,” she told the publication. “We wanted a hook that repeats itself, very easy to memorize.”

In the conversation, Derulo also highlighted the elaborate production of the visual.

“I think in this day and age, music videos are dead, and especially where I’m from, in America, people aren’t putting any emphasis on music videos,” he told the outlet. “I hope this will signify a new beginning for artists to be like, ‘Okay, this is still possible.'”
