Nick Cannon Provides Update on Mariah Carey Following Deaths of Her Mom and Sister
Nick Cannon is voicing his unconditional support for ex Mariah Carey following the deaths of her mom and her sister last month.
The Masked Singer host, who was married to Carey from 2008 to 2016 and with whom the pop legend welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan, recently caught up with Page Six reporters in Los Angeles. During their conversation, Cannon discussed how the "Always Be My Baby" artist is holding up amid her devastating loss and shared a surprising update on the former couple's two kids.
"She’s doing the best that she possibly can, considering the circumstances," he said. "But as a family, we just got to be there to support one another, show love."
Shortly after it was reported that Carey's mom, Patricia, and her sister, Alison, passed away on the same day, the 55-year-old "Queen of Christmas" told People: "My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day."
"I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed," Carey added at the time. "I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time."
Weeks later, Cannon suggested the singer is continuing to enjoy a lot of time with family.
"She’s really having a great time with the kids," Cannon said of their twins and his eldest of 12 children. "That is, you know, the most important thing in the world to her, so it’s outstanding to see them supporting their mom the way they do."
Monroe and Moroccan turned 13 this past April, and according to their dad, raising a set of teens has not been easy. In fact, he likened it to being "the scariest thing" in the world.
“My daughter [Monroe], she’s wearing makeup now. She doesn’t wear it a lot, luckily, but it scared me,” he told the outlet. “Like, we were getting ready to go, we’re in Malibu about to go to dinner, and I was like, ‘What is taking her so long?’”
Cannon said he went to check up on her and found beauty products “all over” her bedroom, joking that it reminded him of the "We Belong Together" songstress.
“I was like, ‘Wow, you’re just like your mom,’” he shared. “It’s beautiful to see, but scary all at the same time.”
