The world's oceans are full of surprises.

Our Oceans, an upcoming Netflix docuseries, will help animal lovers explore these "gateways to the unknown" and the creatures that inhabit them — with some help.

The new series, which premieres on Netflix on Nov. 20, is narrated by Barack Obama. The former president will guide viewers through five episodes of Our Oceans, each dedicated to one of the world's oceans.

This means viewers will learn about the migrations and "heists" of the humpback whales traveling through the Pacific Ocean, how walruses are coping with climate change in the Arctic Ocean, and fascinating facts about the 75,000 miles of water in between.

The Our Oceans trailer, which PEOPLE is debuting online exclusively, gives water enthusiasts a taste of what the new series has in store.

The clip includes tense footage of orca whales hunting seals, soaring schools of fish, a close-up of a colorful mantis shrimp, and much more.

Our Oceans was created by the Emmy Award-winning filmmakers behind Our Great National Parks. According to the new Netflix show, Our Oceans will show viewers that the "mysterious" creatures who live in the "depths" of the oceans, "are more like us than we could possibly imagine."

The show adds that all of the oceans' animals and humans are linked "by a single, all-powerful engine: the 'Global Ocean Current.' Our Oceans will show how this "thousand-year phenomenon" links the five oceans of Earth "into one giant life force."
