The "Refreshing" Reason Eva Longoria Doesn't Post Her Husband on Social Media
And she doesn't view him as her "best friend."
Eva Longoria frequently slays on the red carpet, but we don't often get a glimpse into her private life or her marriage with producer José Bastón—and that's by design. While Longoria seems to enjoy stepping out in attention-grabbing fashion, she shared that her husband doesn't relate to her in that sense.
In an interview with the Dail Mail, the actress-slash-director-slash-entrepreneur said that while Bastón supports her in everything she does, he avoids the spotlight when he can. "He loves for me to be on the red carpet. It's one place he hates and he hates it," she shared before explaining that his aversion to the attention is why followers don't typically see him on her social media. "He hates Instagram. He's like, 'Please don't put me on your Instagram.' That's why he's never on my social media. Once a while I try to slip him in there."
Bastón's penchant for keeping his private life, well private, doesn't bother Longoria. In fact, she finds it "refreshing."
"It's actually refreshing to be with somebody who doesn't need that constant validation of like, 'Remind people we're together. Remind people, I need to be on a red carpet.' He’s just a really kind partner," she gushed, adding that despite his absence at most industry events, Bastón is a super supportive partner.
"He makes me laugh, and he's a really good partner," she continued. "And he supports me in everything I do."
And she returns the favor: "I support him in everything he does. We don't compete for attention or spotlight."
While Longoria said that the producer "excels" in the role of partner and husband, she doesn't view him as her "best friend." "I have best friends," she said. "He doesn't need to occupy that role. It's a different relationship."
"My best friends are my best friends, and I go to them for things," she added. "And my husband is my partner. He’s there for a different function, and he really excels in that role in my life."
The husband-and-wife duo share six-year-old son, Santiago Enrique Bastón, whom they welcomed back in 2018. Although fans won't likely see Bastón on her social media, she does offer glimpses at their son. Just last month, Longoria shared a series of snaps with the little one while explaining why she was voting for him.
"Although Santi can’t vote yet, I want to instill in him the importance of voting and raising our voices for those who can’t," she captioned the post. "This year #VotoPor Santi and for future generations. Let’s make our voices heard for the ones we love and the future we believe in 🗳💪🏽 #LatinoVote."
