The curtains have closed for Australia’s longest-running soap Neighbours, after spending 37 years on our screens.
After the final scene was finished on Friday, the cast and crew took one last photo together to farewell Ramsay Street for good. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot one missing detail from the picture.
Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, who played characters Charlene and Scott Robinson were notably absent from the emotional photo. The couple made television history when their characters tied the knot in 1987, with millions of people glued to the screen.
The pair will be making a return to Ramsay Street, with Kylie mentioning on Late Night with Seth Meyers that she had already shot her scenes.
“There was quite a bit of pressure for me to go back, so I shot my scenes,” she told the host on Tuesday.
It’s likely that Kylie had to fit shooting Neighbours around her jam-packed schedule, with the pop star revealing she’s in Miami today.
April Rose Pengilly, who plays Chloe Brennan on the show gave fans a look at the spectacular cake Channel 10 had sent the cast. Shaped like an old television set, the Neighbours logo can be seen on screen with the dates 1985-2022.
There was an outpour of love and support on Neighbours’ final cast photo, which was captioned simply: “That’s a wrap.”
Many Neighbours stars dedicated their own posts to the show, writing from the heart.
Ben Hall shared a carousel of photos on social media and penned this tribute: “I appreciated it then, but I appreciate it even more now that it’s over. My gratitude for this place and these people is immense.
“To everyone who watched and all those who made it happen. Thank you for everything.”
Matt Wilson shared a video of the red ‘on air’ studio light going out for one final time. “Neighbours. Wrapped for the last time ever,” he wrote.
Earlier this week, Alan Fletcher, who has played Karl Kennedy since 1994 shared a photo of himself on Ramsay Street.
“Yesterday was the last day of location for the Kennedy clan. Jackie Woodburne and I have stood under this arch outside 28 Ramsay street many times over the last 28 years," he said.
"Emotions starting to well up as we finalise filming all together on Friday. Stay tuned, the last episodes are amazing!”
