Neighbours' Ryan Moloney's furious Logies rant: 'Horrible'

Neighbours star Ryan Moloney has come out swinging at the Logie Awards, saying the treatment of the soap’s cast was ‘horrible’.

Best known for playing Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi on the soap since 1995, he sledged the awards ceremony for not acknowledging the impact the soap has had on the TV industry with a proper celebration.

While speaking on the 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin breakfast show on Wednesday morning, he went on a furious rant about what happened on the night, and was annoyed that current cast members weren't given a chance to speak.

“We turned up and we did our mandatory three hours of talking to people on the red carpet, and got in the room, and we ended up getting split up and stuck onto two different tables. It was horrible,” he started.

“Our table was actually stuck behind the cameras, we couldn’t actually even see the stage. I kind of figured that we weren’t gonna get a gig then,” he continued.

The star went on to tear apart TV WEEK’s choice to have Daniel MacPherson and Natalie Bassingthwaighte represent the show instead of current cast members.

“Daniel and Nat are just absolutely gorgeous people and absolutely nothing against them, but we’ve got people who have been on TV for nearly 30 years each, and I think probably the least they could do is get us to actually say something,” he said.

“We’re in the bloody Hall of Fame, if this is how you treat people, a show that’s in the Hall of Fame, then good luck to the Logies really,” he ranted.

He wasn’t finished and went on to describe the tribute of Neighbours with snippets from the show as 'incredibly disappointing'.

“If it’s any indication, the In Memoriam section, I mean half the people in that have worked on Neighbours, so I think they probably got a bigger guernsey than we did,” he continued.

The star said he wasn’t the only one who noticed the snub, saying that the cast from rival soap Home and Away came over to their table later in the evening.

“The cast of Home and Away came up and they were saying how sorry they are that we got [snubbed],” he said.

When quizzed on what’s next for the actor, he joked that he might join the cast of Home and Away.
