Neighbours revival announces return date and arrival of a new family
The revamped series will feature both new and familiar faces.
Just over seven months after announcing that Neighbours will be returning to screens in 2023, Channel 10 has finally revealed when fans will be able to tune in to the new series.
The network has announced that the reboot, which will feature the return of beloved stars Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher and Ryan Moloney, is set to air in September.
A statement released on Thursday also shared that Ramsay Street will welcome a brand new family when the show returns - the Varga-Murphy family.
The network said: “Hailing from the other side of the city, the Varga-Murphy family initially take up residence temporarily, and it quickly becomes evident there is more to their arrival than meets the eye.”
The family will comprise of wives Cara (Sara West) and Remi (Naomi Rukavina), and their sons JJ (Riley Bryant) and Dex (Marley Williams).

Sara and Naomi shared in a statement that they are both “honoured” to be a part of the new Neighbours legacy and “can’t wait” to share the Varga-Murphy family’s story with the world.
Sara said: “Cara has a bold, impassioned love for her family and I love that her intentions have, so far, always been good. I hope having the Varga-Murphy's on tele will help better reflect the beautiful LGBTQIA+ community that I'm proud to be a part of and I can't wait to share the family with you!”
Naomi added: “I am thrilled to be joining the new Neighbours legacy. As a stalwart of Australian drama television, the show is on the front foot of showcasing diverse and real representations of Australian families, not in a tokenistic way.”
Who else is joining the show?
The news comes shortly after it was announced that a number of original Neighbours cast members are set to return to Ramsay Street, including April Rose Pengilly, Jodi Gordon and Guy Pearce.
Hollywood star Mischa Barton, who shot to fame as Marissa Cooper in teen drama The OC, will also be arriving in Erinsborough as guest character Reece Sinclair.
