Neighbours reveals shock finale detail in Instagram post

One of the most iconic couples in Aussie TV history will reunite for the Neighbours finale when it airs in June.

Superstar Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan will reprise their roles as Charlene Mitchell and Scott Robinson, after Minogue left the TV soap in 1998.

The pair had an on and off screen relationship, with the characters' wedding captivating about two million Australians and becoming part of the country's television history.

In a post on Instagram, Minogue shared an image of what appears to be half a Neighbours script, with the name Scott seen on the front.

Donovan shared the other half on his Instagram account, all but confirming the pair's reunion.

"I'm going to cry," another said.

"This is amazing, Can't wait to see it. It's of course sad it's ending but great that it will go out with a bang," a third added.

Neighbours confirmed the news on Sunday, sharing Minogue and Donovan's snap of the script on the show's official Instagram account.

"Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them," Neighbours Executive Producer Jason Herbison said.

"We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale. It has been an emotional experience for them, for us and I'm sure it will be for our viewers."

It was announced in March Neighbours had been officially cancelled after 37 years and 9000 episodes, with the show ceasing in June.
