Why Nordstrom's founding family wants to take the company private
The Nordstrom family has had its sights set on taking the company private for nearly a decade. On Wednesday, Chief Executive Erik Nordstrom and Executive Vice President Pete Nordstrom submitted a plan to do so for $3.8 million ($23 a share), and now a special board committee will review the proposal. If Nordstrom goes private, the company would have the opportunity to invest in long-term strategies without worrying about sales and profit growth every quarter. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}

Giorgio Armani and Kith launch collaborative collection
Giorgio Armani and Kith have teamed up on their first collaborative menswear collection called The Archetype. The collection features four capsules: the Artist, Entertainer, Traveler and Entrepreneur. Celebrating this collaboration, a Giorgio Armani x Kith pop-up with rooms inspired by each archetype will be open to the public on Sept. 6 and 7 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 170 East 80th St. The collection will be available to shop at select Giorgio Armani and Kith stores across the U.S. and Canada beginning Sept. 13.
