The final Instant Restaurant on MKR was an eventful one as German couple Robert and Andrea were eliminated from the competition. The Sydney-based pair donned their finest lederhosen but, sadly, still ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of just 46 out of 110.

It was one disaster after another for the husband and wife duo who invited their guests to their Instant Restaurant Unser Bayerischer Hof (our Bavarian yard). Sadly, the wow factor ended with their impressive set-up, as their dishes failed to make a good impression on their diners.

First up, their entrée of Leberknödel Suppe (liver dumplings in broth) was way too salty, although Colin and Manu praised the team for the “texture of the dumplings and clear beautiful stock."

Then, their main course of Fränkische Bratwurst with Potato Salad and Red Cabbage hit a major snag as Robert struggled to get the sausage meat into the casings which led to it drying out. So dry, in fact, that most of the guests struggled to finish the dish - shattering the "Sausage King's" dreams.

On the plus side, the entrée and main course allowed for plenty of saucy jokes, with a highlight of the episode being when Janey said "The balls were too big" and "in your face." Tee hee.

Moving on, delivering his critique of the failed snags, Colin said, "Sometimes I don’t like my job. The meat in the sausage is too dry, I don’t know if that is the stress of the competition, or we don’t have the right equipment. For me, it was a fail."

Unfortunately, dessert was just as disappointing as Manu thought the ratio of cream versus biscuit in the pair's Black Forest Cake was off. Colin agreed, saying, “The cake is a little bit dry. You've panicked and put extra cream on to moisten it.”

Andrea and Robert's low score meant that Lawrence and Hannah - previously on the bottom of the leaderboard with 53 points - remained in the competition to continue cooking...and fighting with Maddy and Janey.

Fans were quick to flood social media with their thoughts about the elimination and, in a refreshing twist for a reality series, could not have been more supportive of Andrea and Robert.

"So sad for the German couple…wish they got a second shot but not to be," someone wrote on X.

"Aww… poor Germans, I like em,’" another viewer empathised.

"It was so hard to watch I felt their pain," someone else said. "The pressure really got to them but they held their heads high and gave nothing to be ashamed of. So sorry yo see them go I bet the sausages taste amazing under different circumstances well done for holding your heads up high."

"Robert and Andrea such a lovely couple, I would have especially enjoyed the wurst and Black Forest gateau it looked yummy to me. Very traditional," a different fan commented.

"So sad that this couple did not do a lot better, things just did not go right for them. Was hoping it would have been the last time we saw Lawrence, and/or Janey, or both," was another remark.

"What a lovely couple, I am sad to see them go. Their menu sounded good but as we have seen time and again the pressure can bring things unstuck," yet another viewer commiserated.
