'Mighty Ducks' Actor Shaun Weiss Suffers Devastating Family Loss
Actor Shaun Weiss, who fans may recognize from his role in the Mighty Ducks movies, is opening up about a heartbreaking family loss.
In December, Weiss announced ecstatically on social media that he and his girlfriend Shannon were expecting their first baby, calling the news “The BEST Christmas present EVER!”
Unfortunately for the expectant couple, Shannon suffered a miscarriage a few months later. On Feb. 4, the actor told TMZ that he had previously felt that becoming a dad was giving him a new lease on life, and shared that they will try to conceive again.
The Heavyweights actor also told the outlet that Shannon’s doctor gave them a poor prognosis for the pregnancy last week, and they found out four days ago that they lost the baby.
Before the devastating family loss, the couple had decided to name their child Charlie, regardless of gender.
Weiss and Shannon have been together for over two years and in 2024, Weiss shared that they were planning on “tying the knot soon.”
On Jan. 25, Weiss celebrated his fifth sobriety anniversary, writing a heartfelt post on Instagram thanking his fans for their support. “our support has meant the world these past years. THANK YOU, Thank you, 🙏💜📿Recovery is possible!” he wrote, suggesting that others in a similar situation get “a copy of the AA ‘big book’ and investigate the 12 steps. They're all you need, along with a desire to get clean.”
In addition to his roles in the Mighty Ducks franchise and Heavyweights, Weiss appeared in over a dozen episodes of The Tony Danza Show. He also had guest appearances on a variety of television shows including The King of Queens, Freaks and Geeks, Boy Meets World, and Saved by the Bell: The New Class.
