Why Meghan Markle wore red for royal visit to Morocco

Since becoming a part of the royal family, Meghan Markle has made her mark in various ways, and her bold moves in terms of fashion have not gone unnoticed.

When arriving at Casablanca airport to kick off her and Prince Harry’s three-day royal visit of Morocco, once again the duchess turned heads in a regal red dress, an outfit that has been put together with much thought.

It’s believed that pregnant Meghan’s red caped dress by Valentino was actually paying homage to Morocco’s flag.

She teamed it with her nude pumps and a £1,360 ($2,490 AUD) light pink small vring smooth calfskin crossbody bag, also by Valentino.

The duke wore a light grey suit and a patterned tie as he inspected a guard of honour.

Meghan and Harry were greeted by the British Ambassador to Morocco, Thomas Reilly and his wife, as they stepped off the commercial flight.

The couple are travelling with an entourage of nine for the trip including three press staff, two assistant private secretaries and a hairdresser.

It’s been confirmed by Kensington Palace that ‘medical provision’ has been made for Meghan, who is seven months pregnant, throughout the visit.

On Sunday, the couple will visit the ‘Education For All’ boarding house in Asni town, which builds accommodation for girls aged 12 to 18 to ensure that girls from rural communities in the High Atlas Mountains region are able to access secondary education.

In the evening, they will attend a reception in Rabat, hosted by the British ambassador, where they will meet influential Moroccan women, young entrepreneurs and disabled athletes amongst others.

Last week, the duchess spent five days in New York catching up with some of her closest friends, including stylist Jessica Mulroney, tennis star Serena Williams and human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.

Her A-list pals threw her a baby shower at The Mark hotel in the city’s Upper East Side on Wednesday, where they took part in a flower arranging lesson.

The bouquets were later donated to Repeat Roses, which recycles flowers by delivering them to patients in hospitals, homeless shelters and cancer treatment centres.
