Meghan Markle is back on Instagram!

After shutting down her account @meghanmarkle before marrying Prince Harry, and ceasing use of @sussexroyal (a joint account with Harry they launched in April 2019, but stopped posting on in March 2020), Meghan is back—posting simply under the handle @meghan.

She has yet to be verified, but Town & Country confirmed the account is held by the Duchess.

Her first post is an unfiltered video filmed by her husband, Prince Harry, at a public beach near their home in Montecito. She runs to the water, barefoot, and then draws 2025 in the sand. Watch here:

T&C understands that the Duchess rejoined Instagram in hoping to share moments of joy and inspiration from her life, and continuing her and Harry's mission of advocating for safer online spaces for young people and families.

Before today, the profile picture on Meghan's Instagram was a picture of pink flowers, and the account had already amassed over 100,000 followers. It is now a black and white photo of the Duchess.

Online sleuths noted that the handle was officially created in June 2022. In an August 2022 profile in The Cut, Allison P. Davis writes that Meghan, "her eyes alight and devilish," told her "I'm getting back … on Instagram." Yet, that return did not happen—until now.

In Spare, Prince Harry wrote about Meghan leaving Suits, shutting down her lifestyle blog the Tig, and giving up her social media accounts. "She’d also shut down her website and abandoned all social media, again at the behest of the Palace comms team," he wrote. "She’d said goodbye to her friends, goodbye to her car, goodbye to one of her dogs—Bogart."

When she shut down her lifestyle blog, she wrote, "After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it's time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You've made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy."

She continued, "Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being 'the change you wish to see in the world.' Above all, don't ever forget your worth - as I've told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough."

In March of last year, Meghan came back online, under a new brand: American Riviera Orchard (americanriviera.com) and Instagram account (@americanrivieraorchard). Both belong to the Duchess of Sussex. On the day the Instagram was launched, a Instagram story, posted to the handle, features edited clips of Meghan, likely at home in Montecito, as the song "I Wish You Love" by Nancy Wilson plays.

Notably, the logo for American Riviera Orchard features gold font, on a beige background, and features a crest with the letters 'ARO' on top and 'Montecito' beneath the script of the name, and the description of the Instagram account reads simply: "by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex" and ⁣⁣⁣"Established 2024⁣⁣⁣."
