Meghan Markle cut one thing from her diet during pregnancy

She may have the world at her fingertips, but Meghan Markle has revealed that she’s given up one of life’s guilty pleasures since becoming pregnant.

The Duchess of Sussex visited the UK town of Birkenhead on Monday with Prince Harry, where she was offered a cup of coffee.

“I can’t at the moment, sadly, but I can have a mint tea or something.,” the 37-year-old former Suits actress said, according the The Express.

According to the Women’s and Children’s Health Network, Meghan is doing the right thing by cutting out coffee, saying ‘it’s best to limit the amount of caffeine-containing drinks you have during pregnancy’.

Government website, Pregnancy Birth & Baby states that drinking large amounts of caffeine can ‘increase the risk of miscarriage or having a baby with low birth weight.’

However, they state that ‘most evidence on the risk of caffeine use and pregnancy is not conclusive’ and evidence suggests having less than two standard cups of instant coffee a day is safe.

During a walkabout in the town, Meghan also told one well-wisher that she’s around six months pregnant and is due to give birth at the end of April or beginning of May.

However she said that they didn’t know whether their little one would be a boy or a girl as they want a surprise.

The Duchess showed off her growing baby bump in a red Sentaler coat and a purple midi dress by Aritzia’s Babaton collection, with red Stuart Weitzman heels for a day of engagements.

“She said she is six months pregnant and due at the end of April, beginning of May,” local woman Kim Thompson, who spoke with Meghan during the visit, told the Daily Mail.

“Another woman in the crowd joked that she was a trained midwife. Meghan said that one of her friends had [given birth] five weeks early and [the midwife] said the baby comes when they are ready.

“I said, as long as they are healthy, and Meghan agreed. Then she said, pointing to Harry, ‘He’s going to make a fantastic father.’ Harry was asking a mum how she spelled her daughter’s name – Lily.”
