With only a couple of episodes of MasterChef Australia left, it is safe to say we are INVESTED! Viewers all have opinions on who will win or who should win and, equally, have been fairly vocal about who should have left the kitchen.

Sunday night's episode saw Mimi, Sav, Pezza and Harry fight for their place in the top four, as Nat looked on from the gantry having won the last immunity guarantee in the competition. The challenge at hand was for the cooks to create a dish using an extreme ingredient - such as a Carolina Reaper pepper - and perfectly balance it in their dish.

The task saw Mimi use the bitter gourd in her dish, while Pezza opted for the Époisses cheese - a fromage so pungent it was banned from being carried on public transport in France.

Fans were left fuming with the surprising result of the challenge as Mimi was sent home, even though even Andy had cited Pezza's steak sandwich as "basic".

"Get the f*ck out of here.. a steak with two croutons in the top 4???," one viewer wrote on Reddit.

"I WANT TO TALK TO THE MANAGER," added another.

"Mimi getting sent home for bread she didn't present while Pezza has store-bought and has technical flaws IS ROBBERY," another raged.

"Steak, mash and Coles home brand baguette is MasterChef level. Sure," someone else chided.

"How can he say it’s a deconstructed steak sandwich when he didn’t bake the baguette?," yet another viewer questioned.

On X, people were sharing hilarious memes that represented how they felt about the controversial elimination while others simply shared their disbelief.

"Are you serious. WTF. How did that piece of steak keep him in this. What a bloody joke," someone wrote.

"Have watched every #MasterChefAU season since beginning," said another fan."There have been some questionable decisions but nothing compared with tonight. A shonky 1970s-style cream cheese sauce & basic steak? Cooks have left after 1st cook for less. Judges need to stop drinking the Pezza Coolaid."

"Deconstructed steak sandwich is thinking "outside of the box" Pezza? Every café in Melbourne has been doing that for the past two decades!" another viewer added.

Another person also said what many of us were thinking - that perhaps we should all be applying for MasterChef if this is standard.

"By this logic, I’m also a top 4 cook in MasterChef. I can absolutely nail a cook on a steak. I can caramelise onions. I can melt cheese and smear it on a plate. Blair can also talk in the 3rd person. #MasterchefAU absolutely stupid judging tonight," they scoffed.

The rage continued on Facebook as viewers wondered how on earth the judges arrived at their decision.

"You must be joking PEZZA is still there and wasn’t able to deliver a steak sandwich, one of the best and creative cooks went home. The judges got it wrong tonight," one viewer wrote in a fan group.

"Sorry folks a piece of steak is not a finals balanced dish," another wrote.

"It's a crime she was eliminated...poor judging," said someone else.

"Stupid result Mimi's cooking was far superior to Pezza’s average dish," yet another person said.

While there were also several fans who defended Pezza and said that the decision was solid as he had obviously been able to balance his dish better than Mimi, the general consensus was that it was all a big joke.

"I cannot believe Pezza made it through - a deconstructed steak sandwich," a disgruntled viewer wrote. "Please. He should be ashamed of himself."
