Why Charlotte Crosby wants her daughter to watch Geordie Shore
She’s a reality TV star, a bestselling author, a host and a businesswoman, and now Charlotte Crosby is about to become a mother.
The Geordie Shore star, who recently launched her new Nova Original Podcast Always On, announced in April that she and her boyfriend Jake Ankersand are expecting their first child.
“It’s so scary, my whole life is about to change,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “Like, I’ve only ever been responsible for myself for the last 32 years. That’s a long time.
“I think anyone who says it's not scary would be completely lying because you're literally giving birth to a life that is completely and utterly your responsibility.
“And I think once you get in the swing of things then you’re absolutely fine, but it’s the whole thought of like, ‘God, is it going to be easy? Is it going to be hard?’. It's the complete unknown, and that's a scary thought.”

Speaking about the moment she first found out she was pregnant, Charlotte admits she didn’t immediately experience a feeling of excitement.
“I’ve spoken to loads of people and the first emotion is you’re s**t scared,” she says. “There will be loads of people who were jumping for joy, but I think you don't ever imagine it happening to you.
“It's a big shock and it takes a while to actually sink in. So for a good hour or two, there were just so many mixed emotions.”
She also shares that the experience has been “pretty bad” so far and she’s still feeling sick most days, with doctors telling her early on that her pregnancy is considered ‘high risk’.
“I’m now almost 31 weeks and I’m still throwing up, so it’s not been one of those ones where it’s like, ‘I love being pregnant, it’s so amazing!’,” she adds with a laugh.
Geordie Shore
While some celebrity parents might feel ashamed about their children discovering their old work, Charlotte reveals that she doesn’t care at all if her future kids stumble upon Geordie Shore.
In fact, she wants to show it to them.
“Holly [Hagan] said this really good thing. She was like, do you know when you're younger and your mum and dad try and tell you something and you don't listen to them and you’re like, ‘What would you know? You don't have a clue, you've never experienced it’?” she shares.
“I can sit them down and go, ‘Right, Geordie Shore, series three, episode nine, let’s sit down and watch it together. This is what happened to me and this is what's going to happen to you if you don't listen to my advice. I have been through everything you have been through, and we can physically watch together if you want because I know what I'm talking about’.”
‘I was pretty cool’
The MTV star says she’s not at all embarrassed or ashamed about her time on the series, including the fact that she had sex on TV, because “the whole world is bloody OnlyFans obsessed”.
“We don’t live in a world now where it's some big secret or it’s taboo that that’s happened,” she continues.
“And especially in my family, well, my family that I plan to have, we’re all going to be as wild as each other and we'll be able to have discussions like that. And I want my daughter to be able to come up to us and tell us if she’s in a sticky position because I know when I was younger I kept a lot from my mum because I was embarrassed to speak openly and freely in front of her.
“Whereas I don't want that. I want my daughter to come in and tell us if she's gotten drunk or if she's drunk or if she’s in a bad position. I don’t want her to hide anything from us. So if she sees how open I was, then hopefully she’ll be exactly the same.
“If anything, I see it is a huge positive, and I hope that she'll realise I was pretty cool so she can trust us and confide in us for anything.”
‘There’s a lot going on’
As well as using her podcast to update fans on her pregnancy journey, Charlotte is currently filming a new BBC Three reality series about her life.
“I’m not one hundred per cent sure but I'm pretty positive that I will probably film the birth, so there's absolutely just nothing off limits in life for me, to be honest,” she reveals.
“We decided to do this show in January before I even knew that I was pregnant, and the show was primarily based on something completely different. And then I found out I was pregnant, so now it's like a combination of life, business, and the pregnancy journey. It's just got everything in the show.”
She’s also staying busy running her businesses, writing a new book, and filming the highly anticipated Geordie Shore reunion.
“I obviously have to give birth very soon too, so there’s a lot going on,” she laughs, before saying sarcastically, “It’s really chill. I’m relaxing, taking loads of time off!”
