On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Mark Hamill revealed in an Instagram post that he and The Penguin actor Colin Farrell had shared a fun moment together as he posted a photo of the pair that appeared to have been taken backstage at an event.
“The Joker meets The Penguin 🃏🐧,” Hamill, who voices the Joker in the DC Comics Universe’s animated series and films, captioned the snap.
In the photo, the duo pointed at one another and smiled while dressed in black.
“Too much talent in that photo! 🙌,” wrote one fan in the comments section, while a second added, “Gotham City legends!!”
“And to think that this guy was your nemesis in Arkham City,” a third wrote.

Hamill, 73, first filled the Joker’s villainous shoes more than 30 years ago when he voiced the character in the Emmy-nominated Batman: The Animated Series. He has also lent his voice in adaptations of The Justice League and Superman and 2016’s Batman: The Killing Joke. His most recent performances as the Joker include Justice League Action, LEGO DC Super-Villains, Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? and MultiVersus (2024).
Meanwhile, 2024 saw Farrell, 48, reprise his role as Gotham gangster The Penguin in the Max series of the same name. The Irish star, who first played the role in Matt Reeves' 2022 film The Batman, went on to win a Golden Globe for his performance in the series last month, taking home the trophy for best male actor in a limited or anthology series at the 2025 ceremony.

In his acceptance speech, Farrell thanked makeup artist Michael Marino for helping him undergo the huge physical transformation needed to play Oswald Cobblepot (the Penguin).
"No one to thank on this one. I did it all by myself," Farrell joked, before also thanking his "extraordinary" team. "Just a raw, paired away performance."
"All it took was three hours in the chair in the morning," Farrell explained. "I drank black coffee, listened to '80s music, and I became a canvas for that team's brilliance."
"I guess it's prosthetics for here on out," he added teasingly.

Farrell also opened up to PEOPLE in September 2024 about the transformation and how he wore a bodysuit that covered him “wrist to ankle.” “Only things that were me were my hands and feet," he explained. "Everything else, including ears, were pieces. Everything was covered."
The limited eight-episode series picked up after the events of The Batman, which starred Robert Pattinson in the titular role.
