MAFS' Tahnee and Ollie shock fans with sad relationship update

Beloved MAFS couple Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton have split up.

Married At First Sight’s Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton have announced their shock split. Just 16 months after finding love on the tenth season of the Channel Nine reality show, the couple took to their Instagram accounts to reveal the sad news on Wednesday night.

Tahnee was the first one to post the update, writing: "Just as I share the highlights of my life on here, it's only fair for me to share when things aren't always fun.

"Sadly, Ollie and I have decided to part ways. Our lives are taking us in different directions and we feel at this stage it's the best decision for us.

"From meeting as strangers who got 'married', to genuinely finding love, I'm pretty proud of the time we've shared. Our journey together has been such a roller coaster but sometimes relationships just don't work out – no matter how much you want them to – and that's okay."

She went on to say that she is “thankful” for what she’s learned over the past 16 months and “break ups are never easy but heartbreak is worth it in the pursuit of love”.

A stream of Tahnee’s friends and fellow former MAFS stars rushed to the comments section to wish her well.

Melinda Willis wrote: “Far out guys, devo! 😢 Sending all the love and hugs across the sea to you both.”

“Here for you honey,” Olivia Frazer said while Bronte Schofield commented: “Sending so much love.”

Ollie commented on Tahnee’s post jokingly writing “Wow. News to me!!!” before posting his own statement to his Instagram account.

"Hello, Tahnee and I have split up. It's sad, but it's okay," he wrote. "What a ride! A journey filled with love, laughter, challenges, and in the last month, reflection. I think we tried really hard to make it work.

"There is such a separation from Skye Suites to real life that I think is really hard to account for and (albeit not without trying) was an adjustment that we struggled to make.

"I kinda have this pipe dream of us being like Jerry and Elaine from Seinfeld post-breakup, a very hard thing to do obviously, but the sentiment at its core is that I plan to try to be someone who champions Tahnee and can be there for her as a friend. That video is from last night, so I think we're on the right track."

In an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle in March, Ollie revealed just how hard he and Tahnee had to work on their relationship once filming had finished.

"We slogged it out," he said. "Like, I think the general consensus is like, oh, they were just meant to be from the start, and it was the most amazing thing. But it's like, we were slogging at it.

"We were working on it every day, just open communication, three-hour 'before we go to bed' chats, and just trying to be open and honest. And so yeah, like, there were so many things. There was so much luck involved.

"But— and we're still— it's just like any relationship. You have to work on that every day. And so yeah, there's so much gratitude for so much. And I was so lucky. But just like any relationship, you've got to bloody work on it to get it to where it is."
