MAFS star on Jack and Tori's sexual 'connection': 'He's just not that into you'

Former MAFS bride Tahnee Cook shares her latest column and her thoughts on Feedback Week.

We’re at the tail end of the Married At First Sight experiment and now at Feedback Week - which was Couple Swap week for us last year. They aren’t doing that again though and I’m glad about that! MAFS copped a lot of backlash last year when they introduced the couple swap week and I do feel it was pretty justified.

It’s always so interesting to see how they frame tasks from the experts and how it’s going to benefit the relationship but I still can’t understand why they thought swapping partners would help relationships blossom.

In our year it broke apart a lot of couples. I remember Ollie and I having our biggest fight during this week and I ended up staying in another apartment, but this was never actually shown on air. Other couples also took a turn and I think this week really brought out a lot of insecurities for some people and it was simply not constructive. We didn’t get to see that air because it wouldn’t have painted the week in a good light and I think this maybe was one of the reasons why they didn’t opt to do it again this year.

I liked how this year they had people meeting up to ask questions and share feedback. There was a lot more to work with in terms of the different pairings and I thought it made the week more exciting to watch.

Judge Jayden presiding

I was just dying waiting to see what Jayden was going to say to Sara and it did not disappoint - it was like watching an episode of Judge Judy with the energy he was giving. My reservations about Sara staying in the experiment stem from feeling like she maybe wants to be there more for her image than for Tim. I would like to think she genuinely wants to make things up to him but I’ll wait to see what transpires in the next few weeks. I think for me, Tim has been so forgiving and patient, which is such a nice personality trait to have, I just hope that’s not taken advantage of. I have a lot of respect for how direct Jayden and Eden were with their pointed questions about Sara’s ex.

We were then blessed with another Judge Jayden session with Tori, and she needed to hear what we’ve all been thinking. Part of me loves how much Tori is willing to stand by her man - no matter all the horrible stuff he’s said and done - but girl, please be so for real right now! I honestly can’t think of anything worse he could do that would flip her on him. It’s giving he’s just not that into you. I hope she sees the light and gives her ride-or-die energy to someone who will reciprocate that. I mean, even seeing Jack flirt with Jade was pretty shocking too.

Unsolicited opinions are part of the deal

I swear he’s been more flirty with her in that minute vs the whole time he's been with Tori. It’s clear that he can be more flirty with someone he finds attractive and it begs the question: Why is he stringing her along like this? He surely can’t think more airtime is going to do him any good. If anything, we are seeing his true colours more and more each week and I don’t think they are very pretty.

It does make me feel for Tori a bit but I’m unsure if she’s aware of what’s happening and happy to go along the ride too. I think Tori’s attitude towards not caring about anyone’s opinion is valid but also that’s kind of the whole reason why you’re on MAFS - you’ve pretty much signed up for unsolicited opinions from the rest of the cast and vice versa. The whole purpose of you being in the experiment is to be speaking on and sharing your relationship in a group dynamic, it’s the whole premise of the show.

I have to give a special mention to the KFC picnic date Jayden and Eden went on. I remember back when Ollie and I did our KFC (#sponcon) date and all I could think of was how cold the food was. We spent so much time getting all those camera angles we didn’t even get to enjoy the food!

Enter: The Bullshit Investigators

I am loving our newly appointed bullshit investigators! Lucinda and Timothy are honestly carrying MAFS at this point with the level of entertainment they are giving us. I’m loving the energy these two are bringing to the table. The Mission: Impossible scene was just *chef's kiss*! I’m fuming we didn’t get to see the 3-way phone call between Tori, Jack and his ex - that would have been VERY interesting to hear but, obviously, it didn't eventuate.

Let’s get into the dinner party!

Sexual feeling...really?

The drama this week was centred around the 'bullshit' letter that Lucinda and Timothy wrote to Jack and Tori. I don’t understand how Tori can say she and Jack share a strong sexual connection when they haven't had sex. It simply doesn’t make sense. Jade comes in with a sprinkle of drama dropping the bomb that Jack admitted that if he was with someone more his type would he have slept with them by now. Like Timothy said: BOOM!

There it is. Jack is clearly not into Tori in that way. It’s so obvious they are not in a good place and Tori is coming off so defensive and aggressive towards the group when they are just looking out for her.

In other news, it’s been sad to watch the downfall of Richard and Andrea. It’s clear their communication is disjointed and they are just not hearing what each other is saying. Richard isn’t taking any accountability for his actions and it has nothing to do with Andrea’s past relationships.

Of course, we can’t skip Sara and Tim. It was pretty intense to watch the group coming so strongly at these two but I can’t disagree with what they were saying. I think they were really feeling the heat and I respected the way Tim handled himself and defended Sara.

The real MVPs

Timothy and Lucinda are just divine, they are just so raw and real it’s so refreshing to watch. I think we are finally seeing all the layers to Timothy and his hard exterior has started to come off.

There’s not long left now in the experiment and I’m interested to see the next stage the couples go into and, of course, who leaves next!
