MAFS’ Ryan Gallagher takes swipe at ‘ex’ Davina Rankin on I’m A Celebrity

Married At First Sight star Ryan Gallagher has taken a dig at his former TV bride Davina Rankin after she entered the I’m A Celebrity jungle this week.

The comedian, who also competed on the reality TV show two years ago, was paired with Davina on season five of MAFS where she famously cheated on him with fellow contestant Dean Wells.

Ryan took to his Instagram Story on Thursday to share his thoughts on Davina’s comeback, four years on from the memorable TV scandal.

“Yes, I am very aware that my ‘ex-wife’ is on a TV show, I’m quite aware of it,” he said while lying shirtless in bed.

“Nope, I don’t wish her any bad at all, I wish her the best. It’s a shame it wasn’t filmed in South Africa where cheetahs are native.”

It wasn’t the first time the 33-year-old has taken a very public swipe at his ex and their failed relationship.

During his own appearance on I’m A Celebrity in 2020, Ryan introduced himself and said: “I'm up for meeting animals - giraffes, rhinos, cheetahs. I'm used to a lot of cheetahs... e.g. cheating.”

In follow-up Instagram stories, Ryan explained he had known Davina was going on I'm A Celebrity “for about three months” and wasn’t actually watching the show.

“Do I mind my ex-wife now?” he answered a fan's question in a separate video. “Well there’s a reason why Channel Ten won’t be on for the next month, I can assure you.”

Davina officially joined the cast of I’m A Celebrity on Wednesday night and wasted no time in making fun of herself and her level of fame.

“I don't know if anyone knew me,” she said upon her arrival. “I mean, I'm probably the most D-list celebrity here.”

Viewers on social media were clearly divided over the appearance of the MAFS star, who has welcomed a daughter and gotten engaged since her time on the show in 2018.

“Is this the Davina redemption story?" one person tweeted, while another added, “Sorry y'all, I like Davina. Sue me”.

“I hope Davina is the first one voted out,” a third wrote, followed by someone else who said they “stan her”.

“Look... I know everyone dislikes Davina but honestly? You gotta admit she’s kinda iconic," a different user shared. “The MAFS cheating scandal pioneer, if you will.”

"Me just over here thinking about how good it would have been if Davina and Ryan were in the same season,” another remarked.
