MAFS’ Patrick breaks silence after announcing split from Belinda

Two weeks after the fan-favourite Married At First Sight couple announced their shock split, Patrick Dwyer has broken his social media silence.

Patrick and his partner Belinda Vickers ended their nine-month relationship earlier this month after meeting on reality TV and becoming one of the show’s few ‘success stories’.

Taking to Instagram, the personal trainer posted a throwback photo from an event he attended at the start of the month with fellow MAFS groom Jake Edwards.

“Hi, I’m Patrick. I’m 28 years old and I just arrived at the wrong Olympics,” he captioned a photo of himself holding ski poles.

He also added in the comments: “I’m off to grab some takeaway chicken. You guys better behave yourselves in the comments section while I’m gone.”

His post comes shortly after he deleted all photos of Belinda from his profile, including any moments from their time together on MAFS.

Meanwhile, Belinda recently revealed that the real reason why the pair broke up was that their future plans were no longer in sync.

The 29-year-old, who hasn’t removed her photos with Patrick from her Instagram, told WHO that they had a ‘wonderful relationship’ but failed to see eye-to-eye about a number of things.

“Our perspectives on love and life goals ultimately didn’t align,” she confessed.

“As you move forward into the future, it’s pretty important to be heading in the same direction towards the shared future that you both want.”

She also confirmed that their “family goals and timings” didn’t line up, which was a major issue that led to their split.

The couple announced their separation two weeks ago by sharing a joint statement on each of their social media profiles.

Posting to their Instagram stories, the statement read: “We would like to address the current rumours of our split and can confirm we have gone our separate ways.

“We have enjoyed a relationship together for over nine months however we do not want the same things in love and life. We appreciate all the love and support we received through our journey.”

Fans first speculated that the pair might have ended things after Patrick unfollowed Belinda online a day earlier, although she currently still follows him.
