MAFS' Mishel reveals 13kg weight gain while on the show

Married At First Sight's Mishel Karen has taken to Instagram to reveal she gained 13kg while filming the show between August 2019 and January 2020.

The 49-year-old explained that she wanted to lose the extra weight by her 50th birthday which is on December 15.

Mishel shared a snap from the night she first appeared on the show at the hen's night and then at the reunion.

"Today, I started my journey, ‘unveil 50’... one of my first and biggest projects is the ‘Losing the extra MESH I gained in 2019’,” she wrote.

“It is quite obvious that during filming @mafs I gained a bit of extra ‘Mishel’ to love. An extra 13kgs of MESH!

She continued, "I have been a curvy woman, ever since I started trying to have my babies. It was during that time my body started to change, change to a more voluptuous figure. It took me some time to get used to my new shape and start to embrace my curves; but I did it with age, confidence and positive affirmations."

"I am now back to my pregnancy weight just before I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Eva. Not a weight I expected to be after ‘getting married’... or turning 50!"

Mishel then revealed her challenge for herself to fit into her hens' party outfit.

"Even though I believe Curves are Cool! I just don’t feel as healthy and fit as I did before I entered the experiment,” she wrote.

“So... It is my challenge to fit back into my ‘Hen’s Night’ little black Bec and Bridge dress. I hope that you share my journey with me."

Her MAFS co-stars commented on the pictures, cheering her on, with Mikey Pembroke writing, "Good on you legend."

Hayley Vernon added that she had also gained weight while on the show, writing, "I gained 7kgs! Ughhh that show. I have no doubt that you will win your butt back into line."

Fellow bride Natasha Spencer also weighed in.

"Beautiful at any size," she commented, while Vanessa Romito said, "Good on you [Mish] you can do this."

Other followers shared their support with many saying they will attempt to follow in her footsteps.

"Looking forward to following your progress and wish you all best!” a fan wrote. “Might inspire me to do the same!"

In another post, Mishel revealed her full plan for the next year, which included changing things like her skin and hair, creating new eating and exercise habits, enjoying more work/life balance and more.

Mishel recently slammed Married At First Sight, saying she and her co-stars weren't treated well.

"We were sleep-deprived, we had everything we owned taken from us, we were spoken to like pieces of s**t," she told Who magazine.

Mishel added that the warehouse where the dinner parties and commitment ceremonies were filmed was "teeming with cockroaches" and that the cast was "rarely fed" or given water.

She also said there was one night where she was forced to wait for ice to melt in her glass so she had something to sip on.

Mishel also revealed that producers forced her to say “stay” at the commitment ceremonies despite the fact she wanted to leave her 'husband' Steve Burley.

"I was saying I want to go home, I don't think anything is going to happen with this person ever," she said.

"But I was forced to stay. At one commitment ceremony production was held up for eight hours because I wouldn't write 'stay'. I was saying, 'no, I'm not going to,' so eight hours we were delayed."
