MAFS' Josh slams Logies for playing 'emasculating' footage of him: 'Taken aback'

"I found it in poor taste."

MAFS' Josh White has slammed the Logies for playing 'emasculating' footage of him from the reality show instead of showing the two happy couples who stayed together throughout the show.

Josh appeared on 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin after taking to Instagram to share his surprise at being featured in the video, which showed the infamous scene of himself and 'wife' Melissa Sheppard on the MAFS couch, where she questioned his manhood.

"I found it in poor taste to use very specific footage of me in the first award nomination," he said, sharing comments to his Instagram Story. "If the show was really about love, then why not show the two couples that successfully made the journey and celebrate that?"

Speaking with the radio hosts, Josh shared that it was hard to watch the scene again on TV and didn't understand why it was being shown, given the show is supposedly about helping people find love.

"I was putting the kids to bed, so I missed the segment, and I got a message from Rupert to say they'd used footage of me, which I thought was odd, right? I mean, I'd only been on there for a couple of weeks of the 12-week run," he explained to the hosts, adding he only watched the video on Monday afternoon.

"I was really taken aback, I thought that the idea of the show, or the premise or objective was to find love with a stranger," Josh said. "There's two beautiful couples that went the whole way, wouldn't you celebrate them? Instead of showing something that was really emasculating?"

Josh questioned whether he or Mel needed to relive that moment in time, which was difficult for them both.

"The hard thing is when you watch the footage, you can actually hear the crowd in the audience react to the footage that they're seeing, and I just thought it was odd," he said, adding the other clip they showed was of Caitlin McConville and Shannon Adams, who also broke up early in the series after a tumultuous time on the show.

"It's like promoting a car race by showing car crashes, that's what it is, isn't it?" Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes said.

Erin Molan agreed, saying she used to do just that when working on Nine News, revealing she used to have to create packages about the V8 supercars and often only used footage of the crashes.

"The reason that they use those bits last night and what they would consider to be the juiciest bit is because they're the bits that people love to watch," she said. "They love to watch other people squirm, they love watching other people come undone, it's an awful part of our psyche that reality TV is just tapped into. And I feel really sorry for you because that would have been really awful to watch."

When asked how he felt watching the clip, Josh responded, "It was just like a very uneasy anger."

He also questioned why they felt the need to promote their show in such a way, but then they didn't even invite him to the awards show.

Josh added that there were scenes of Melinda and Layton and Tahnee and Ollie from their final vows that would have been great moments to show the success of MAFS.
