MAFS experts John and Alessandra share major teaser for season 11

EXCLUSIVE: John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla spill on the upcoming season.

With production for the new season of Married At First Sight kicking off this month, experts John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla have shared an insight into what fans can expect when the reality show returns to screens.

The Channel Nine stars told Yahoo Lifestyle at the TV WEEK Logie Awards on Sunday that diversity will be one of the biggest themes for season 11.

“Well we always like to make a splash,” John said. “But I think diversity is going to be the word that I would use for this cast.”

“For me, I think my experience of doing this experiment is that I am as surprised as everybody as to how things progress along the way, so I'm just expectant,” Alessandra added.

“I've spoken to some very interesting people that I have very high hopes for, but we all have to wait and see.”

When asked to describe the ideal MAFS participant, John said that the biggest criterion is simply that they’re not already in a relationship.

“Well, they’ve got to be 100 per cent committed to finding love, and they’ve got to be single,” he remarked. “We’ve had a couple of instances lately where they weren't.

“And I think ultimately, we want someone who's got a big enough personality to cope with the pressure of the cameras and the experiment.”

Yahoo Lifestyle recently obtained photos of the first two weddings for season 11 taking place at Swifts in Darling Point - which is where season 10’s Melissa Sheppard and Josh White got married - and Maroubra Beach.

'We always want to see them be happy'

Speaking about attending the Logies this year, John and Alessandra said it was lovely to reunite with the season 10 cast members on the red carpet.

“It’s wonderful bumping into them after the show because they've gone on to bigger and better things,” John shared. “And we want to see them often as loved-up couples and we get a chance to do it.”

“We always want to see them be happy,” Alessandra added. “So if it's happy by themselves or happy in a relationship or happy with the person that they met on the show, all the situations are good if they're happy. So I am just excited to see them and see them doing well.”

Only a handful of MAFS participants were invited to attend the Logies this year, including Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton, Melinda Willis and Layton Mills, Evelyn Ellis and Duncan James, Janelle Han, Sandy Jawanda, Claire Nomarhas and Rupert Bugden.
