MAFS’ Jake Edwards opens up about 'tiny teeth' transformation
Married At First Sight groom Jake Edwards has opened up about his insecurity with his “cracked, tiny” teeth.
The 33-year-old took to Instagram to announce his plans for a dental glow-up with celebrity dentist Dr Deepan 'Dr Dee' Duraisamy.
Posting on social media, Jake told his followers that he was surprised at how his teeth have recently become a topic of conversation.
“Even on my ‘wedding day’, I copped a lot of grief. Yes, they’re cracked, chipped, tiny. You don’t need to tell me, I know,” he captioned the post.
The former AFL star went on to explain that while he initially didn’t plan on fixing his smile, he changed his mind when Dr Dee agreed to give away two $30,000 makeovers to Jake’s followers.

In the video he shared online, Jake acknowledged that his teeth are a result of playing professional sport for a large part of his life.
“It’s been something that’s obviously been my insecurity for a very, very long time,” he said.
The announcement comes after Jake stepped down as CEO from his charity Outside the Locker Room after six years.
The 33-year-old recently broke up with his post-show girlfriend Sophie Guidolin and spent time at a wellness retreat to focus on his mental health.
Other celebrity transformations
Dr Dee is well known for giving reality TV stars dramatic teeth makeovers, fitting porcelain veneers to fix their smiles.
Last month, fellow MAFS groom Patrick Dwyer underwent a total teeth overhaul that’s thought to have cost a minimum of $24,000.
The personal trainer shared several snaps to his Instagram after the procedure, telling fans why he decided to get it done.
“Not going to lie, after seeing my teeth on MAFS I realised how bad they were and started to get self-conscious about my smile," he wrote.
“I did get a lot of negative comments about my teeth but it was when I personally started to dislike them that it started to bother me.”
Big Brother star Mary Kalifatidis, mum to former MAFS bride Martha, also unveiled her dramatic dental transformation last week after a lifetime of feeling embarrassed.
Mary explained to her Instagram followers that she refused to smile in her wedding, birthday and engagement photos because she was insecure about her teeth.
Now, she feels like her “new cheesy smile” has given her so much more self-confidence.
“They say it’s never too late, at 56 I found that perfect smile I always wanted. Thank you so much, Dr Dee,” she shared online
