MAFS expert John Aiken's savage comment edited out of the show: 'Mic drop'
EXCLUSIVE: Beth Kelly spills on the spicy moment that wasn’t shown in Sunday night’s episode.
While he’s known for giving participants some hard truths on Married At First Sight, not every one of John Aiken’s fiery moments is shown on TV. The show’s commitment ceremonies famously take several hours to film, which means most of the back and forth between the couples and the relationship experts ends up on the cutting room floor.
Fan-favourite bride Beth Kelly tells Yahoo Lifestyle that one moment edited out of Sunday night’s episode was John’s brutal swipe at her partner Teejay Halkias, who was being called out by the experts for giving her “mixed signals”.

“John said to Teejay, ‘Beth's never had a relationship before and her emotional intelligence outweighs yours massively’. I was like, ‘Ooh mic drop!’. That was amazing,” she recalls.
“He also said, ‘Beth is one of the most genuine contestants we've ever had on the show’. They were two really great things, they made me feel so good. I wish they played them last night, but sadly they didn’t. That was just a mic drop from John, I loved it.”
'He got what he deserved'
Teejay was certainly in the hot seat during the final commitment ceremony of the season, with both John and Alessandra Rampolla questioning whether he was being honest about his feelings towards Beth. While many viewers described the grilling as “intense” on social media, Beth reveals things were much more heated in real life.
“At the commitment ceremony, the experts went a lot harder on him. So I think the way it played out last night was actually too gentle,” she laughs. “At the end of the day, you've got to have consequences for your behaviour. You can't just expect to treat someone poorly and get away with it.
“All the cast saw through it, the producers saw through it, the experts saw through it, so there's got to be some sort of conversation around it. You can't just do this and expect to be smooth sailing the whole way through and not get reprimanded for your behaviour. I think he got what he deserved if I’m honest.”
Beth admits she 'instantly regretted' her decision
It was clear in Sunday night’s episode that Beth was blindsided by Teejay’s decision to write ‘leave’ when she had written ‘stay’. The UK-born bride admits that her “heart dropped” when he revealed he wanted to quit the experiment and she “instantly regretted” her decision.
“We had a conversation after and I ended up saying, ‘Look, I don't know what I'm doing. Where's my worth gone? If you haven't seen by now how amazing I am and you don't see my value, I don't know why I'm trying to prove myself to you’,” she recalls.

“I think in that moment it all just hit me. There were so many signs leading up to it that he wasn't really interested and then the next day he’d completely switch and show me that he was interested. But obviously, writing ‘leave’ is a bold statement. You are saying you absolutely do not want to be with this person. So for me, it was an instant regret.”
