MAFS expert Alessandra Rampolla tests positive for Covid during filming

Just before filming wrapped on the upcoming season of Married At First Sight, expert Alessandra Rampolla has revealed that she's tested positive for Covid-19.

The sexologist, who joined the Channel Nine show for the first time last year, took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday to share the news with her followers that she has to isolate for the next two weeks.

While Alessandra didn’t divulge any further details about the situation besides posting a screenshot of her test result, it’s believed that she contracted the virus on a recent trip with friends in Cairns, Queensland.

The TV star’s diagnosis has reportedly thrown the production on season nine of the reality TV show “into chaos”, according to Daily Mail.

The publication reports that the show’s producers have now put strict protocols in place so the infamous reunion episodes can be filmed in mid-January according to schedule.

Contestants have been told to stay at home and not to visit any restaurants, bars or cinemas until after the final episode takes place.

The situation comes after filming for this year’s season was delayed until mid-February when certain brides and grooms refused to travel to Sydney if they had to quarantine for 14 days.

Last week Channel Nine released a brand new teaser for the upcoming season of the controversial social experiment, which premieres 7.30pm Monday, January 31.

The cinematic clip features several brides and grooms running around Sydney’s busy streets at night before one couple meet on a rooftop and share a romantic kiss surrounded by fireworks.

Next year’s participants have been described as “Australia's most attractive and adventurous singles” who are bravely jumping head-first into the “pressure-cooker of love”.

The network has also teased a scandal that’s never been seen on the show before, which will leave experts gobsmacked and many of the participants threatening to walk off the show.

Alessandra’s Covid update comes as former MAFS stars Aleks Markovic, Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli revealed that they’ve also tested positive for Covid-19.

“Covid sucks, it is so f**king s**t,” Martha detailed on her Instagram. “Some people are like, ‘Oh it's just a cold’. It is just a virus, but it is a pretty s**t one. Michael actually got hit really hard with it.

“So there's actually like a sore throat, chest burning, nausea, vomiting, fever and then chills. If you can avoid this, avoid it. You don’t want to get Covid, especially now when it's the holidays.”
