MAFS’ Martha and Michael test positive for Covid: ‘Makes you ugly’

Not long after returning home to Sydney after their whirlwind post-engagement trip to America, Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli have revealed that they’ve tested positive for Covid-19.

The Married At First Sight couple, who are both double vaccinated, each posted a series of Instagram Stories on Wednesday night to share the news and detail the timeline of events.

“I have to use the catfish filter because Covid makes you so f**king ugly,” Martha said while lying in bed. “I just don't know how it changes your face and makes you ugly, but it does.”

The pair explained that they tested negative before their flight from Los Angeles to Sydney, and also as soon as they landed in Australia on Christmas Eve.

“So we went to Christmas with our family, someone at Christmas had Covid and we're pretty sure we got it at Christmas,” the Celebrity Apprentice star added.

“Some other people in my family have Covid. [Her mother] Mary, by some miracle, does not have Covid. And so we're just staying in the room at home.”

Speaking about her symptoms, Martha described it as “cold and flu and tonsillitis and gastro all in one”.

“Covid sucks, it is so f**king s**t,” she said. “Some people are like, ‘Oh it's just a cold’. It is just a virus, but it is a pretty s**t one. Michael actually got hit really hard with it.

“So there's actually like a sore throat, chest burning, nausea, vomiting, fever and then chills. If you can avoid this, avoid it. You don’t want to get Covid, especially now when it's the holidays.”

The Swipe Up podcast host went on to tell her 600k followers that they don’t need to be too afraid of Covid because “it’s not too bad” and they are already feeling better after three days.

“Just try not to get it yourself. Wear the f**king masks, carry sanitiser and sanitise and do all that s**t because it helps, it really f**king helps,” she said.

“Honestly, good luck to anyone who gets Covid and they haven’t been vaccinated.”

On Michael’s Instagram Story, he added that he’s been experiencing night sweats, body aches and a lethargic feeling, but he’s currently doing much better than the first two days.

“We’ve been sleeping separately because I’ve been going to war with my sheets, pillows and doona most night,” he detailed.

The personal trainer also said that he hasn’t lost his sense of taste and smell so far, and he’s been “testing it daily by eating barbecue Shapes”.
