MAFS 2022: First look at brides and grooms

The promo, which was released on Christmas Eve, was just as moody and dramatic as viewers have come to expect and gave a glimpse at some of the brides and grooms who'll put their love on the line.

The cinematic clip opens with a sweeping nighttime shot of Sydney city and the words, 'New Years Eve' before zooming in on a blonde woman gazing out of a highrise apartment window.

A man with a buzzcut and a neck tattoo checks his reflection in a mirror while another groom with a moustache shrugs on a suit jacket.

A female newsreader narrates the scene, saying, "Millions of people are preparing for a spectacular fireworks show.

"As midnight approaches, time is quickly running out to find your one true love."

With the clock counting down, several brides and grooms as seen hurrying along busy city streets and into the Queen Victoria Building before one couple — a bride wearing a gown with an extravagantly long train and a tall, dark and handsome groom — meet on a rooftop.

The pair share a romantic kiss as fireworks go off in the background, no doubt hinting at the explosive drama to come.

While the names of the contestants weren't included in the promo, the press release describes them as "Australia's most attractive and adventurous singles" who are bravely jumping head-first into the "pressure-cooker of love".

Relationship experts John Aiken and Mel Schilling, and clinical sexologist Alessandra Rampolla will all return to play matchmaker and guide the newlyweds through the rollercoaster experiment.

Alessandra's 'Intimacy week' is back along with Confessions week, the Couples Retreat and the popular Home Stays week.

And, of course, the Dinner Parties and weekly Commitment Ceremonies are also on the menu.

The press release teases a scandal that's never been seen before on MAFS, leaving the experts gobsmacked and many of the participants threatening to walk off the show.

Over on social media, MAFS fans were abuzz with the teaser trailer and took to the comments section to express their opinions.

Considering the timing, one fan declared it the "best Christmas gift," and another added that they were "ready for the drama again".

A third fan wondered if the sneak peek at the rooftop kiss would cause problems later on in the season.

"Be a bit awkward if the two kissing in the promo aren't matched, a pre-emptive cheating scandal?" they wrote.

While most were "keen" for January 31 to roll around, others were less than impressed.

"Won’t be watching this rubbish again," one wrote.

"Time to boycott this show, it’s turned into overproduced fake crap," added another.
